All great points. I didn't know about the 3 strike rule on bears. Just ask Steve Irwin about getting too close.

I posted a picture of old steve when he got ate, Someone couldn't face reality and got it removed from the site.

In My Opinion he didn't get to close he JUST GOT STUPID!!!!!!!

Yep 3 strikes your out, first they capture the offending bear and take it far away from where it was caught and humans but they have been taught that we are the providers of free and easy food.

Mr. Irwin was acting foolishly, but he was a professional, and knew full well the risks. The irony in that was how it happened. It was such a freak accident it will probably never happen again... ... One difference with him was that he was actually trying to educate the public to protect the wildlife. It's a perfect example of how it can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime, regardless of our knowledge or awareness of situation. But what can you do? Live in a box? I'm not capable of that. It'd be similar to Big getting drug to death by a mule in his driveway by his bionic leg, me getting killed by a pickup hood, or a racecar driver getting killed by a road cone..... Hell, for that matter, you're more likely to get struck by lightning!!

Animals are pretty dam smart, that deer knows there is a barrier there between it and the strawberry queen otherwise that scenario would never happen. I would not want to be face to face with a deer (or anything with antlers) anyway, they can do some MAJOR damage in short order.



Steve Irwin was my hero and a crying shame he had to go so soon. The good ones die young.

He found a croc that had been shot in the head and took it home and nursed it back to health. When he found it, the croc only weighed about 150 lbs. 20+ years later, it grew to over 900 pounds and 15 feet long and you'd swear it was a lap dog for this guy. Crazy stuff.

Not taking anything away from mr. Irwin. For a time he may have been the best thing on TV. You're correct HH. WE all have hazards. Look at Dale Earnhardt. No, I didn't see it, but wish I had!!! I'd like to bite him, myself, sometimes. Certainly would like to slap the stupid out of him!!! (gotta feeling I'd get awful tired or he'd get awful dead before all the stupid was out of 'im... . )

I was there and witnessed the whole thing. 2/2 is my birthday and, until they changed the format, was something I liked to do. I'd get the gang up, go there, get breakfast at the diner, and send the kids to school barely late.
