In 2009, I refuse to drive all the way to Ohio to spend 10 days at my wifes' mom's house, and deal with the cigarette smoke that makes my COPD kick in. I also will not be sleeping on her cold hard basement floor during those 10 days, (since she has no extra bed space) as it may be a flipping cold 18 degrees again, also causing me to acquire pnenmonia again. I will not deal with no heat in the dang basement. I will not spend $1,000s on medical care again just to appease my wife

No, In 2009, You will find me at one of the Marriot hotels near my mother-in-laws house. I will be comfy in a warm room and a real bed. I don't care if it costs me 150 a nite. Not fighting with the inlaws - Priceless. Wife staying with her mom and not in the hotel, a nice bonus. Don't you think?

Andy,

Both true stories... sadly. The first one was fortunate that Vivian never runs her truck much less than 3/8 tank. She started it just enough to move it. When she called me, she told me she accidently filled it up w/ gasoline. I said: "at least you didn't start it like I always told you, right?" and she says... "well, the guy waiting behind me told me it wouldn't hurt it to start it to move it. " I freaked. We had I towed to a diesel shop, where they drained the tank flushed the fuel system and put 1/2 tank of diesel w/ Standadine treatment. All for just $300 and no damage done.

The little incedent at Flying J a guy cut me off to the diesel pump while our little 3 year old grandaughter is having a hissy fit. Vivian is telling where to go to the next pump while a lady in a low profile car pulls behind me where I can't see her. next there's the unhealthy scrping sound followed by a honking horn. My bad. To make things worse, the guy who cut me off to the pump is finding the whole thing amuzing.

Thank goodness, niether incedent was ver expensive.

Have a Happy New Year,

Ron

I will not waste any time on TDR. Haven't yet, don't think it will start now! Let's face it: TDR time is quality info and entertainment time!

In 2009, I will NOT buy another mod or upgrade without first finishing and installing the more then several projects on my truck that I have already acquired parts for in 2008.
HOWEVER, I sure do hope that I DO finish all of them in February like I plan, cuz this year I DO want to buy and install a Pac Brake AND an AMP Powerstep AND more Westach Dual gauges AND a GDP 5mic filter AND a coolant filter and new shocks AND AND AND... .

In 2009, I will not have another daughter's wedding at home - I only have one daughter and her wedding is 30 Jan 09. :) Therefore, in preparation for the wedding, I hereby vow not to open up a load-bearing wall so the wifey can see from the living room to the family room (or vicey-versa), will not re-paint every room in the house, will not re-floor both bathrooms, will not replace all the doors, hinges and knobs in the house and re-paint the doors; and will not buy and replace all the blinds in the house (did all that in the past 8 weeks).

I also will not buy another '36 Hudson Terraplane 2-door sedan to make a street rod - already have one that's a work-in-progress :), nor will I see 200,000miles on the CDT's odometer again (thanks, Robin for the 200K Plates) ;). Also won't spend as much time away from TDR (obviously entirely toooooo many things going on the past few months).

I will, however, play with my 3-year-old grandson as much as possible :D:D:D.

I vow to not use as much good ole #2 as last year. I am still going to drive a lot more though, good old Biodiesel.
Especially since the nice company decided to continue to sell Bio after a lot of us locals expressed our well articulated thoughts through e-mail. The nice company decided it was better to continue to sell Bio and keep customers instead of selling #2 and losing a lot of business.
I will burn more Bio than I used last year and I will not use as much #2.
My truck sure does love bio. Happy New Year to everyone.

In 2009 I'm NOT going to drive my Dodge 16 hours one way to Edmonton Canada when fuel is $4. 50 a gallon to meet any woman regardless how gorgeous she looks or seems. LOL (does that qualify for "here's your sign!" )

At the top of our Not To Do in 2009 List [actually it's the whole list] is to not be deterred -be it the economy, fuel prices, etc- from traveling fulltime in our 5th wheel, exploring this big beautiful wonderful country of ours and course, trying to play every golf course we come across. Happy New Year, Diana

Thanks Robin! We really appreciate this.

We are upgrading from our embattled and nearly submerged 03 to a "leftover" new 08 which is already sitting in the driveway.

We need all sorts of Geno's gear so this is PERFECT. Oo.

This is the FIRST time anyone has seen these pics... almost to painful to post. :{ But this was for a good cause.

Thanks again,

Greg & Wendy

Congratulations Greg!!!! BUT now that you won (which I think you should have!!!!) aren't you gonna post HOW it happened, or just keep us guessing. I THINK that it one of those OOOPS!!! that ALMOST got me once -- getting out of the truck without setting the parking brake when I was "in a rush". #@$%! BUT I caught it before I even let go of the door handle... . Oo. AND I won't do it again EITHER!!

PS--ACTUALLY, it looks like a good thing that the boat WAS there... . for the truck, at least!!!:-laf

I think I need a few drinks in me first, but unfortunatley, I'm at work...

Anyway... we were getting ready to leave the harbor, and I allowed an inexperienced driver to start up the beast so the ac could cool off the truck prior to our getting in and leaving.

The clutch was depressed to allow engine start, but it also was released w/ the stick in 2nd gear. Even with the p-brake engaged, the 780 or so ft lbs was enough to override it.

Panic ensued in the cab, and we're not really sure if the brake was applied or not, but the truck only had to roll 4 -5 ft before the S hit the F.

I was standing on the back of the boat during the whole thing, and actually ran toward the truck as it approached, but quickly thought better of it and ran like h*ll towards the helm.

Luckily, it is a 13ft wide boat in a 14ft wide slip, so the mooring ropes have very little play to keep the hull from hitting the dock or our neighbors boat.

This kept the starboard corner from sinking lower, which would have allowed the p-side tire to fall off the dock and put the full weight of the CTD in the back of the boat.

Fortunately as well, we did not cheap out on mooring lines as none snapped. I have an image in my mind of the ropes snapping, and the boat shooting out of the slip like a big bar of soap... while the truck goes under.

The starboard downrigger fought a valiant battle to the end, defiantly jousting it's boom into the oilpan and mashing it into the crankshaft.

It took 2 full size 10-wheeler wreckers, one on each side, positioned at 45 deg. angles to the doors to boom out, and pick the truck off. I rigged the straps through the aluminum rims.

All in all, damage was minimal to the CTD, although some horrifying (it's our Baby!) cosmetic damage was inflicted to the Tiara.

Our charter boat is called "Gills Gone Wild"... Now you know why! :-laf

WOW... that story is way more then I bargained for!! All the more reasons you deserved to win the contest!! Glad no one got hurt!!! Thanks for sharing... I owe you a drink, for sure!! :-laf
