programming suggestion - a la carte

I'm going to make a Smarty programming suggestion that I haven't heard yet.



Assuming that Smarty is limited to 10 programming options (one of those being fixed as the stock program), and knowing that you can't satisfy dozens of different interests with just 9 Smarty programs, I propose a la carte programming.



The way I envision this is having 20-30 different programs that the user can download to his PC. From there, the user can download any 9 programs into his Smarty in the 9 available program slots. From there you download any 1 program to your ECM as usual.



Advantages:

- This gives great flexibility to satisfy a wide assortment of needs.

- You don't have to lose old functionality as you would with a sweeping firmware upgrade.

- The Smarty becomes individually customizable



Disadvantages:

- The current 1-9 program references will no longer be standard. That is, my #3 could be different than your #3.

- Documentation may be more complex as a new naming convention might be required



Pricing:

Individual programs could be sold a la carte, much like downloading a song for your MP3 player.



Of course, if the Smarty was changed to support 2 or 3-digit program keys, then it would be simpler. I could just load program #27 if that was my favorite.



I hope this is something worthwhile to consider as I would like to be as easy as possible for Smarty to get better.

I've really thought a lot about this too. I would love to be able to pick which 9 programs to keep on my smarty... for instance, to have the Beta 4. 4 #1,5,and 9, Wild #9, Moderate #5, etc.

The downside now, is if I want to switch between a beta program and a wild, it requires 30 minutes of download time from the computer to the Smarty, and then another 5 from Smarty to the truck...

I thought I had read something somewhere sometime (lot of somes there. . )that this feature was going to be added "soon".

When I asked Marco about it some time ago, his response was that he never said Smarty would/could eliminate the speed limiter.



Question then would be - Can Marco come up with a patch for Smarty that would eliminate the speed limiter - on all Smarty models? I realize the programming is different from year-to-year, but is it an impossible task, or has Marco just not had time to do it?

The rev and speed limiter are in our thoughts every single day believe me.

I would have loved to have a program the same as SW#2 but a little less added fueling off the bottom with a "mild" timing increase (like 50%) of normal added timing. But still with full fueling at WOT. That probably would have done it for me. .

Also, I think for the guys that already have a timing box, I know some would like about the same thing without any added timing.

Just trying to be constructive and communicative about what I know some people would like. .

What about that huge thread that has the 2nd gen smarty wants/wishes? Have you read through that to see what we are asking for and to see what is possible? Assuming that Marco reads it too of course... ... ... .

smarty new features

I will like if smarty has traction control system feature. it would be great in winter when drive only 2wd. And if racing starts will be very fast?

I just wish it had select on the fly ability. I don't like running my truck on the higher levels all the time, but I don't want to get caught with my pants down either. I just really hate when a ricer comes up beside me, and I cant play cause I'm on level 1.
