I once narrowly avioded a one piece shower-tub unit that flew off the back of a guy pickup in front of me. I have to add that this was the second day I had my truck. I stopped and helped him drag it out of the road and put it back in his truck. He was quite bummed because the tub/shower thing was smashed all to heck. I pointed out to him that he used twine to tie it in the back of his pickup and that he was doing like 80 and what did he expect... ... .

I found a human leg. I like to organize all my stuff in plastic blow-molded boxes, so when I found one sitting by the road one day I stopped to pick it up. I was thinking there might be a nice hydraulic tool in the box too and that would have really made my day. Boy. . was I surpised when I opened it and found a leg and foot, cut off at the knee. There was a tag on the box identifying the box as belonging to a morgue, so I called and asked what the heck it was doing on the road. Evidently the van that was hauling it had a flat and the box either fell out or was pulled out to make room to take out the spare and accidently left by the road.

I saw a pair of shoes once and about fifty feet away there was a body. I was working nights and I would drive down the street to an all night party store for pop and snacks every night. Often, there was a drunken ***** outside the store. That night the old ***** must have decided to stop traffic and got hit by a semi. I saw it just after it happened, before the cops and emergency crews arrived.

In the same area, and another night, while I was heading for the same store, there was a Ford Bronco laying on it's side. A couple of guys were climbing out the passenger's side window.

The patriot,

Actually we never thought about stopping. Must of been too tired to think... :( We did however think of going around again to get another look but we decided not to since we had to drive about 3. 5 hrs to get home... :p ..... Darn... ;):)

Some years ago, a buddy left Medford Or. heading for So. Calif. towing a nice boat (about 20' with a V-8 engine). Going over the Siskiyou pass, he was in a real snow storm. When he got to Yreka Calif. (about 50 miles), he stopped for coffee. When he got out, he glanced back at the boat-----whoops,. trailer was empty!! boat was gone!!

He headed back north in a hurry. Just north of the pass, there sat his boat in the median with several DOT and State troupers standing about trying to figure out the puzzle. Soon the wrecker they had called for arrived and helped reload the boat, and my friend was back on the road-----with a ticket for inadequately secured load, and a reciept for the tow truck bill.

Out in the California desert I saw a tool box beside the road and no one in sight, some one must have had a problem and forgot to put the tools away, some good stuff in there too.

A sofa... than a table... than a table lamp and than, you guessed it, a guy with a wide open u-haul trailer by the side of the road scratching his head.

I wished I had a camera......

Driving out to Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas. A dead Armadillo laying on his back. A Lone Star beer bottle stuck on his nose and the remaining 5 empty bottles, still in the 6-pack carton next to him. Quite humorous.

A few years ago, while living in Omaha, a friend and I were out driving around. We pulled up at a red light behind a local delivery truck of some type, as the truck began to pull forward upon the green light, a small fork lift came through back roller door. The driver must have heard or felt it brake free and shut the truck down just as the fork lift became airborn. My buddy being the careful driver he is thankfully kept us out of the landing zone by not tailgating. I remember one fork made a divet about 5 inches deep in the asphalt.

THAT'S WHERE I LEFT IT!!!! You didn't pick it up for me did ya? :D

About 2 years ago me and my cousin were coming home from a concert in Denver. It was about 1:30 in the morning and we were traveling southbound on I-25. Just as we were approaching the tech center we seen two hot naked young ladies on the side of the road.

AND YOU DIDN'T STOP!!!!! I would have stoped to show them by wonderful rust free balls. ;)

We've all heard stories of cars & trucks 'with so many rattles it's a wonder etc. etc. '

Well late one night 20 years back way down in Baja California I came upon a mass of metal and rubber in the road that looked alot like the front axle of a big truck ( it was pitch dark) and I thought to myself 'you're kidding right?'

And not 50 feet further on here is the truck, nose down in the pavement.

Hard to imagine how the truck must have handled during the time it took to wear all those components out.

Many years ago towing my 17' boat with my CJ 7 I saw my boat in front of me. Just put a new hitch on the trailer and forgot to adjust the lock. Darned thing came ofjust rigt and the chains unhooked and it passed me!:--)

Just a couple of years ago had a wheel come off of the forward axle of my tandem axle boat trailer with 9000# of power boat on board! The wheel passed me, changed lanes a few times and ended up on the side of the road 1/4 mile ahead. No one hit it.

 :{

The wheel, 31"tire and the axle shaft decided to pass me and pinball off the hiway barriers a couple of times before it made a beeline for the cop that was behind me. I just slid to the shoulder, sprinted the 50 yards to my tire and rolled it to my truck. I got lucky the cop didn't bust my chops

Oh this was in my old commanche not the cummins!

How about a 25' sailboat sitting on it's keel and leaning against a rock ledge on the side of the interstate. Saw it in northern VT. on the southbound lane of I-89 about 5 years ago. That transport driver must have been just a little surprised.

The pedestrian in Torrejon,Spain who decided to cross the road without looking. He slid up the hood of my car and fell of landing in a fetal position at the curb. That was 22 years ago.

The boy on a moped in Naples, Italy who decided to turn left directly in front of me. He was severely pressed against the front of the Fiat Van I was driving and then laying in the roadway. That was 13 years ago.

Neither died - Thank God Almighty.

(Note to self)

Look both ways twice before crossing the road in New Mexico. :D

Especially if a 98. 5, QC, Light Driftwood, 2wd, 3. 54, Auto, LB, Holey Airbox, Missing Silencer Ring, Full-Length Running Boards, bed liner, tinted windows, sliding rear windows, keyless entry, bug shield with eyebrow is comming. :-laf

7 large rolls of sheetmetal!!!!!!

Was on my way to work in Niagara Falls in Oct. of 92 passing through the city of Buffalo on I-190 north, when a SOUTHBOUND tandem semi-trailer steel hauler ejected his load of steel rolls over the jersey barrier  as he tried to avoid some a@@ hole who had stopped in the middle of the interstate

This is not a story with a funny ending however, I narrowly avoided being killed, some good stunt driving to miss the careening and unravelling rolls of steel as well as a guardian angel I'm sure.

5 other people ahead of and behind me were not so lucky... they were killed instantly.

The aftermath is a sight I will never forget, myself and other motorists tried to help the victims but there was nothing we could do but put out the fires, it was like giant bowling balls had come down the road.

Every now and then they will play the news film clip up here in Buffalo when a truck accident happens, and I still get wicked chills when I see footage of myself sitting on the hood of my old Toyota, waiting for the carnage to be cleaned up so I can get out of there and go to work... . hopefuly never again. :(
