Our primary use for our 3500 is towing our 5th wheel, not having the fastest diesel on the block, and our mods have been incorporated accordingly. Having said that, the Edge EZ has really transformed our truck into a "towing fool"!
Stock, probably due to emissions concerns, our ETH didn't really "pull" until about 2100 RPM. With the EZ, it pulls
right now whenever you hit the loud pedal.
By advancing injection timing (and in conjunction with the boost elbow, BHAF and 4" exhaust), maximum EGT's have dropped from 1250 degF to 1050 degF when towing. Maximum boost is up from 22 PSIG to 31 PSIG.
Hills in the Texas Hill Country that required full throttle in 5th gear when stock are now taken at 1/2-2/3 throttle in 6th gear. Mid-range pulling power is
much improved.
The only downside - we're still running the EZ in setting #3, and the truck is smokier than stock when towing. We get a healthy puff on every shift when accelerating, and I'm seeing a little bit of black film on the 5ver after 250 miles on the road.
Net-net, the Edge EZ is probably right up there with the Jacobs e-brake as the best investment we've made for towing. You really won't believe the difference it makes in the truck's performance.
