the only reason I use the synthetic in my transfer case is because of the potential cold temps in Wyo ,
One time at 47 below zero I tried and failed to put a quart of 15-40 oil into a vehicle and since then I have thought of crankshafts trying to go down thru it on a start up.
Do yourself a favor some time when it gets good and cold, take your favorite dino-oil and any synthetic oil ,make sure they are of same weights, pour some out on 2 seperate plates and leave them out all night so they can get real cold, in the morning retreive the plates and turn your hand powered mixer on them, and then think of your truck, I bet I know what oil you will use next time
