Right. If your error is 3. 5%, multiply by 1. 035. I figured out my error using a GPS.

I have had some interesting experiences with dealers and trying to get the truck reprogrammed for tire size. Started with the Hemi and continued with this truck. I was told so many cockamamie stories by different dealers it made my head spin. Some have no idea or want to charge a ridiculous amount. The dealer I bought this truck from wanted to charge me 1. 5 hours and get the information for the tire size from STAR and then inform them that the change had been made. Presumably so they could immediately void my warranty :-laf

It takes a few minutes to do with the hand-held DRB gadget they have. I would never pay more than 0. 5 hours for this and have had it done a few times for free. I like to get it as close as possible. Go there armed with the number of revs/mile you want programmed when you do it.

I know how these dealers can be #@$%! . I will have to wait a few weeks. Today it is in the shop because the steering pump is leaking where the shaft goes into it. So I am thinking today is not a good idea to address the bigger tires. I how ever am expecting them to blame the leak issue on the tires.

You can go to the steeler to get your computer recalibrated for your new tire's rotations (or revolutions) per mile. You can also buy Superlift's Tru-speed. I had it on my '02, and it was great.

You guys are all doing better than me. My new 05 3500 is getting 12. 5 unloaded and 7-9 with GN trailer loaded. Ouch... I wonder if something is wrong cause I don't drive that fast. With this kinda mileage I am gonna need a second tank!

I have a 2004. 5, and the best I've gotten for mpg, is 18. 8 on a trip to Texas to pickup my 5er. I usually average 11. 5 towing.

Nope, I am getting about the same. 12. 4 on the freeway at 70 - 75 MPH and loaded with a horse trailer or tractor or a boat I get about 10 MPG. Pretty bad!

37,500 miles on my rig. The best I got was in a 360 mile run out to Havasu. 22. 7 mpg @ 72 mph cruise control the whole way. Tires were @ 70lbs in the front and 60 in the rear. Virtually no wind. ( hand calculated) The computer said I was getting 18. 6mpg.

My '05 has been getting 19-22 on the interstate and 18 around town. I have been quite pleased with the mileage so far. The truck only has 3000 miles on it and it appears the the overall mileage is getting better.

MPGs

Udloy is correct to a point: the secret is always in the right foot. That said, there are differences among vehicles. Mine's a 2003 HO 6-spd. Held to 60 mph on the highway and kept under 10 psi on the gauge, I got 20. 3 calculated last week driving unloaded back and forth to Denver several times. I can run 700 miles before reach "O" on the overhead DTE. I have gotten better but rarely worse. Not bad for a 3500 SRW.

18. 8-19 in town. 19. 5 on the hiway at 70. I expiermented with the trip computer and found that the best in town mileage was obtained by shifting at around 1500-1700 RPM and being very easy on the throttle. The truck has about 20K on it. If I play hot rod and shift at 2500+ the mileage drops to 16-17. My overhead is always about . 2 MPG lower than hand calc.

3,500 miles on 05 2500 4x4,Quadcab,longbed,6sp,3. 73,big Horn, towing 21' Arctic Fox TT,605# quad runner and five passengers: 13. 56 mpg overhead reads 15. x mpg

EL K, It looks like our trucks are similar I hope to be towing a AF22GQ by next year. At the present I don't drive freeways much so lots of miles ar driven in 5th gear so mpg may improve when I start hitting the freeway. My overhead also reads better mileage that I am getting about the same as yours. I was getting 16 mpg with my 84 ford w/ its 6. 9 diesil I am happy with all the power of my Dodge/Cummins if I end up getting aboutthe same mileage I will be happy

The wife and I were talking the other day on the way into town and she told me that she would like it if I would get a newer truck with a trailer. So the question is is what kind of milage are you 3rd gen folks getting with your trucks? A guy at work has a 03 and is pleased as punch at getting 17. When I get 17 with my truck I'm PO'ed. Anywise, any and all information is greatly appreciated.

Just did a test run with my 05 DRW 6 spd .

Drove 163 miles round trip ,at approx 60 -65 mph depending on traffic , truck was empty , ac on full tank of fuel .

Before leaving i topped off drove round trip back to the same station and topped off again . My truck just hit 2000 miles and hand calculated 20. 5 mpg .

Keep in mind if city traffic were a factor my mpg will drop to like 13- 17 all depending on driving conditions. On the highway though i am pleased.

My 99 used to average maybe a 1 mpg better on this same route ,not bad for an 05' i guess .

By the way truck's is stock 100%. FWIW.

:D

Robert4570, you better never get rid of that DRW 3500 truck. You should sleep with it, take it to bed with you, do whatever it takes to keep that truck happy. Oops, I see that it's 2WD. Ah, well, those are still good numbers. Just be good to it and don't worry about taking it to bed.

The right foot is major contributor good numbers . As for taking the truck to bed , as long as it dont talk back .

The first trip pulling the trailer this week-end Oo. . Riverside to the Mamoth lakes area in the sierras and home again. Averaged 12. 5 @ 70mph. Topped the sherwin grade at 75 :D ... ... ... ... . I was not taking it easy on the new ride. Lovin the 48re so far,in the Tow/haul mode she held the combination down to 60 mph with the cruise set at 55 mph. Never had to touch the brakes.

The 94 gets about 14-15 on the same trip, but not near as quiet.

I just returned from a trip to VA from south Florida, and i averaged 23 mpg on the highway. Thats with the cruise set at 73 mph, it's an 05' 4x4 short bed slt. Around town i get around 18 mpg. By the way i have 4900 miles on her.
