I only have about 1700 on my 3500 so far but I've seen 17. 2 on the highway and 14 around town and 13. 2 towing 13K.

Mine is mostly used back and forth to work, 18 miles of mixed driving. I have averaged 12. 8 over 9000 miles. It has varied from 11. 2 (lots of idling in the snow) to 14. 0.
I pulled 8k (I know, small) over the Cascades and back this weekend and averaged 12. 1. I was also working the truck by doing 80 up the hills! :D
All of these are hand calculated, however the dash mileage has been within . 5 mpg every tank.

I have 1000 miles on, mostly around town EVIC says 11. 8 to 14 around town , last weekend on highway as hi as 20 !!!! With the wind to a low of 15 mpg sooooo I'm guessin after break in 13 to 18. My old 1997 5 pd avged 15 around town and 17to 19 on road. I was hoping for better ? NEW tech and better computers ? Hmmmm ? Well I guess I shouldn't complain 8,000 lbs with that mileage ain't bad. Wife has Jeep Grand Cherokee with V6 and she does about the same. Mine ? 2011 3500 Laramie,Crew,Auto,3:73,ARE cap,Sht Bed,4X4

6000 miles, 13. 2 mpg. Hand calculated. Speedos are off by 3 mph on these trucks: switching to 255/80R17s has put mine dead-on. I switched to these tires on day one.

do you have a pic of your truck with these tires? I like that size. Did not see one in your gallery.

Pleasant surprise. Picked the truck up. Dealer had it full.

108 miles. 6. 1 gallons, full into the neck. 17. 7 mpg if the dealer had it that full. That was all but 8 miles, I-75 running with the cruise on 72 mph.

I'm leaving this afternoon for a 1700 mile round trip. That should give me a good idea. I agree. The dealer didn't stuff it like I just did. But I want to get a good calculated number. That's how I set my fuel stops when I travel.

Not a good picture, but you can see they fit pretty well. I use my truck at our underground limestone mine, so I prefer the thick lugs on these tires (they last longer, fewer flats).

At 3K miles, I'm averaging over 18 on highway trips and just over 16 around town.

Highway trips, I set the cruise on 72 and let it go. I was getting 20-22 on my 2005 so I feel this. It still isn't broken in yet so I expect it to improve.

RonD,

I live in central Georgia and most of my 2005 trucks mileage was a round trip to Kings Bay down on the coast. Mostly low rolling hills and as I get closer to the coast, pretty much flat. Speeds were usually 60-65 mph (mostly two lane running). I would get 22 in the summer and about 20 in the winter when the winter blend fuel is sold.

It was a great truck.

My observations bear out what I read in the forums before I bought the truck. Unloaded around town it's usually about 14. I can baby it and do better, up to 17, but not with normal driving. Regens are the reason- every time the mileage creeps up the regen kicks in and blows more fuel out the exhaust.

OTOH, when towing, this is the most fuel efficient one I've had, much to my surprise. Just did a coast to coast trip with a bike in the bed and travel trailer on the rear. Westbound 9. 5 mpg, which considering the tires, lift, load, constant headwinds, and 75 mph speed was reasonable.

Eastbound 11. 3 mpg dialing it back to 65-70 and less wind. I've done this route a bunch of times with other trucks and this one's as fuel efficient with a load on as the best of them were.

I know a lot of people can do better on mileage, but I drive to minimize transit time, not mpg. These numbers towing are the best I've ever done under similar conditions.

PS- it's a SRW, so no diff than a 2500 so far as mpg...

I do love my truck, 2011 2500 Crew cab long box, The mileage is down from my last truck a 2005 Duramax, that lost the engine at 142,000. The Chev would get 13. 5 towing the same trailer I tow now with a truck that runs. With the Dodge I was getting 19. 8 on a road trip them the regen kicked in and the final was 17. 5. Again not bad for a 8k# truck
