My '06 6-speed has 33,000 on it. I filled up this morning, and the overhead read 20. 3 mpg. Hand calculated was 16. 02. I'm not sure why this is off so badly... I know added fuel throws the overhead off. However, I'm running TST on 1/1 which is supposed to be "economy" mode, in that it only adds timing and does nothing to duration.
I'm also running Smarty, and have not seen any MPG increase at all. I've tried settings from 1 to 9, currently been running on 2. The TS MP-8 stays just barely on, maybe 15 -20% or so. Mileage was no different with the Edge EZ.
Maybe mine is just slow at breaking in, but I thought things should be a little better than this. I'm running Smarty, TST on economy, a little added pressure, 5" straight pipe exhaust, AFE Stage II air, etc. Also running blend of MMO, PS, and Howe's Meaner Kleaner (been running these additives in some form or another since new).
I monitor the gauges, drive with EGT between 600 -700 when cruising, shift at 2200 rpm, very few full throttle accelerations, drive looking ahead and anticipating stops, etc. Trips, interstate, town, mileage doesn't vary. It stays right at 16 no matter what. Towing has been between 7 - 14 mpg depending on load.
I do know that the SPS 66 turbo is probably hurting a little, as well as the 35" tires. Truck loaded is 7880 lbs. I'm open to suggestions! --Eric
