newest diesel nut in the crowd!

My 1st helicopter ride

C130's and A-10's flying around the neighborhood. Make a guy feel proud to be an American. :)

On the more classic side, the sound of a P-38 doing a flyby or any radial.

The late great Chris Ledoux singing Western Skies. :(

Amen to that one.

After 9/11 hearing F-16's flying overhead and looking up to see all those missles underneath it. Used to live near Carswell AFB (now closed) and they used to fly B52's outta there and hearing one of those big things starting their take off run was awesome.

I got a few of them around here.

A fighter ripping through the air is a rare treat, and an awesome sound.

The Mrs saying-" I think my water broke".

A car door slamming -than a burn out outside the house at 2:30am.

Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful".

My late fathers lighter had a unique noise when he flicked it open... once in a blue moon I hear it... and my breath escapes me.

For 4 years I slept on the 03 level on a top bunk on the USS Forrestall. (The top bunk allows one to touch the bottom part of the Flight Deck. My bunk was about frame 35 or so, which put it very near where the catapult suddenly slowed from 125 MPH to STOPPED. . This was accomplished with much fanfare and lots of shaking!!! As a result I am the heaviest sleeper I know. . Back then if I got to sleep between launches I would sleep right through the next launch!!! The launches I was sleeping through caused the whole front of the ship to shake. .

But as far as I am concerned the roar of a fighter jet is STILL the same as

"The Sound of Freedom"!!!

"One of the sound that does it for me, is the sound of 43 cars at Daytona. Sitting in the stand and hearing approx 35,000hp coming at you is awesome!"

TnLRacing:

I will go you one better... I remember how those 43/44 cars sounded WITHOUT plates at WOT at Daytona. Would love to hear them again. Will be there next week.

The sound of a swarm of Bee's on the move. The slam of a door on someone's fingers. A good hard strike at the bowling alley or a good hard break on the pool table. Walking in the dark and hear a dog growl. Actually, just walking in the dark and not hearing anything can sometimes do it :{

"NICK"

No noise...but

I almost stepped on a skunk at work once.

We both froze then started backing up slowly.

NOT funny at the time. :-laf
