Do aftermarket mufflers really help in the performance/economy of the truck?

I know I don't want an obnoxious/loud exhaust. My factory exhaust is still in good shape, but if I can gain a true . 5 - 1mpg better in a daily driving scenario, I would be tempted to get one.

I will probably be doing tires later this fall.

I've read about MBRP, Aeroturbine and a few others.

Thanks for any/all opinions.

Yes. You want to minimize the restriction in the exhaust. In general, minimizing intake and exhaust losses (which means minimizing pumping losses) will make the engine more efficient.

I doubt you'll see that much gain in fuel economy, on average.
