what should rail pressure be at an idle?

I have an 06 and was wondering what the rail pressure should be at an idle and at full throttle?

Thanks guys

Dennis

Mine idles a 7k with the EZ on 2, WOT depends on your mods, the Rail pressure sensor will not read over 27k, so you could actually spike past that level.

With just the Smarty and EZ at WOT, my pressure stays around 25/26k, if I add TST, I can pull it down to 18k fairly easy.

Rail Pressure

Mine idles at 6600 and your wot will vary with your mods. It is an absolute must that your wot be at least 23. 5 or you are not making good power. Probably 25k to 27k would be ideal for big power.

Thats what mine is about 6K

the reason I'm asking is, mine has a miss at idle after it is warmed up.

It had this when I bought the truck (used) I thought it was the injectors

so I had Don rebuild them. (F1) Well it still has a miss at idle when warmed up.

I retorqued the connector tubes and no difference.

Wondering where to go from here?

Also read on here someone else has the same exact issues as mine and he had new connector tubes installed and it didn't fix the issue either.

The max the sensor will read is actually 30,000 or register 5 volts. There is a ECU thing to only see 26. 4K max.

Yes, you are most likely correct, my point was, just because you are only reading "26. 4k", does not mean your rp is not higher.

Is it really a miss? Or does it just not idle as smooth as you think it should? The CP3 can be phased to get a better idle quality and the valves can be adjusted to ensure a cosistant clearance across the board. Both these operations will contribute to a better quality idle but it will burn up a few hours to do it right. The other common issue is the fca not smoothly maintaing a consistant idle easy to change out as well, just cost a bit more than you would like,

The warmer the engine gets the worse the idle quality.

When it is cold it idles perfect when it warms up it can even get a shake

if valves were out of adjustment would it make act like this, as far as if it is warmer up or not.

Don't know if it applies to the 06's, but, check the AC compressor wire for bare spots from rubbing on condensor lines or mounts. That has caused rough idle and different problems.

I was under the impression that the diprocol would read up to about 26-27k psi. I have an SPA gauge reading rail pressure (oem transducer, I dont know of anyone using an aftermarket transducer) and it will hit 27. 1k psi, thats it. I idle at about 7k psi give or take 500psi.

Get a new FCA, get it from Cummins NOT from dodge the price difference is ridiculous!!

I Will Be Installing A Quadzilla Rail Press Guage On Tuesday Morning On A Truck With A Modded Cp-3 And Way Too Big For The Street Injectors That Smoke At Idle, I Will Try To Post Back The Results At Idle And High Idle, And Loaded... :)
