For 06 anyway, I can't seem to spec out leather with a manual t-case shifter, what is the logic behind that? Once you add leather you have to get elec shift on the fly for some reason.

J package Laramie, Steve. That's how I got mine. I thought it was impossible, too... but tomeygun hooked me up. That's exactly how I got my truck, and it's very much a reality. :)

Hmm, I will double check again, maybe that changed for 06??

OK, just got back from the local Dodge fleet dealer (by the way counted about 6 or 7 NV5600 trucks on the lot) and it looks like you can not order leather with man t-case shifter for 06

Also, new for 06 you can not order a sport (now called TRX04 offroad sport) with leather at all. :(

Tommygun and others if this is incorrect please chime in.

Soo, looks like I can get offroad/sport with manual t-case shifter and power sunroof/power rear slide window etc. basicly everything but leather with that package, so may just do that and wait till kids ruin it and then have it redone in black leather down the road.

FYI: looks like you can order a sunroof with clearance lights, but you can't order rear seat DVD with sunroof.

Just a couple of comments..... the leather they come with is nothing to brag about. The elctric shift t-case has worked flawlessly for me and quite a few others. I have yet to see somebody here complain about its function.

Ditto to that.

The truck I originally ordered had a manual tcase shifter, but I ended up with this truck.

Electric switch has quick engagement/disengagement, and I honestly don't miss the lever.

However, Dodge's bean counters probably made the decision that most people who ordered leather got the electric, so they eliminated the manual option. Unfortunately, in this case, majority ruled.

Electric 4x4 shifters are for sissy's :{ ! (Oops, I hope I didn't step on anyones toes :--) , but its the truth {SORRY :) }! Just something else to give problems! Just my opinion though, LOL!)

To tell the truth, in both my 97 2500 V10, and my 01 F350, I had a manual lever. While both were very reliable, I can honestly say I don't miss 'em.

IMO, electric or manual, I think they are BOTH equally reliable, and can think of about 100 other things that could break and or leave you stranded before something silly like this.

It's not the leather (at least in my 03) that makes for the electronic transfer case, it's the heated seats. They share the same dash console with the electrci transfer case switch, get heated seats and you get the switch for 4x4.

Before my Dodge, I had a GM pickup and 3 Jeeps before that. All the Jeeps had manual shift cases and they always just worked. The GM had an electric shift case and it broke around 50 or 60k. When I looked into getting it fixed I found it was quite expensive. I also heard that it was a common enough occurance that the aftermarket came out with a kit to replace the electric guts with a cable and make it manual again. Now before we get into GM vs Dodge wars, keep in mind they both (and the Jeeps for that matter) all had New Venture transfer cases. Needless to say I made sure I got my Dodge with the lever. Not much can go wrong with that.

Mine has heated seats, and leather, and a floor shift transfer case, just the way I ordered it.

The transfer case isn't what breaks on those Chevys anyway. It's the actuator in the front axle for the center axle disconnect. Dodge had the same problems and that's why the axle shafts don't disconnect and spline right into the differential carrier now, and spin the front driveshaft all the time. The electric motor just engages the t-case... . essentially, the hubs are, "Always" locked in whether you have a manual shift t-case or not.

Speaking of Chevys, you can't get a manual transmission one with leather at all... and you haven't been able to get one for several years. If the truck itself didn't make the decision for me, that certainly did.

When I ordered my truck I couldn't get the heated seats without the Laramie package. I settled with a manual shift and floor shift transfer case and unheated leather. Heated seats are for pansies anyways :-laf . If I had to do it all over again I would have just ordered cloth seats and install aftermarket leather. I will probably add aftermarket leather in a few years, I just wish I did it right to begin with.

Not being able to get a Chev with leather and a manual was one of the biggest reasons I went with the Dodge. Chev has completely given up on the manual market. When I was looking for trucks there was only four 6-speed GM trucks in Canada, and not one was a Duramax, this along with a number of other reasons, made a the Dodge a easy choice.

I am just ****** that I have $2000 of gm money on my visa that I won't be able to use.

My truck does have "a" laramie package, just probably not the package offered for 2004.

I guess my truck is one of a kind, having heated leather and a floor shift transfer case. :)

The heated seats are great in AK while waiting for the truck to warm up. I lived 7 mi. from work and it really never got warmed up before I got where I was going. and I would still get my truck just the way I did(I like toys) and upgrade the leather. Of course the heated seats do me alot of good now that I am in Florida.

My Suburban has had repeated problems with the transfer case actuator starting at around 75k, drew so much current that it blows 20 amp fuses whenever it's below 0. At that point you are in 2wd and no way to get into 4wd unless you carried around a box of fuses or managed to get it back to heated garage. And even when the t-case actuator works, half the time the center axel disconnect wouldn't just like you mentioned. Replacement T-case actuator was ~$1000 installed (labor was minimal).

That is why I insisted on manual transfer case control and was happy to hear that there is no central axle disconnect on. I do believe that there should be manual hubs standard.
