The GM had an electric shift case and it broke around 50 or 60k. When I looked into getting it fixed I found it was quite expensive. I also heard that it was a common enough occurance that the aftermarket came out with a kit to replace the electric guts with a cable and make it manual again. Now before we get into GM vs Dodge wars, keep in mind they both (and the Jeeps for that matter) all had New Venture transfer cases. Needless to say I made sure I got my Dodge with the lever. Not much can go wrong with that.

Speaking of Chevys, you can't get a manual transmission one with leather at all... and you haven't been able to get one for several years. If the truck itself didn't make the decision for me, that certainly did.

6 2 Carl said:Heated seats are for pansies anyways :-laf . If I had to do it all over again I would have just ordered cloth seats and install aftermarket leather. I will probably add aftermarket leather in a few years, I just wish I did it right to begin with.

Tim said:The transfer case isn't what breaks on those Chevys anyway. It's the actuator in the front axle for the center axle disconnect.
