1. Dual mass flywheel will need to be replaced
2. Blend door will break.
3. Vent door will break.
4. A/C will go out. (4- 2005-06 trucks in 6 weeks at our terminal)
5. Hiccup at idle. Pretty sure its an injector.

All of this in the last 10,000 miles. Well its "hecho in Mexico", what should I have expected. Didnt have this many problems with my 04. 5 at 243,000 mile. But is was build in St. Louis.

If this keeps up, I guess a new D-Max is in the horizon. Thats sad to say after having 4 CTD's. She going in the shop on Monday. (I might need a loan)

That right!
Rplaced u-joints at 78,000 miles, and the batterries at 42,000 miles. This was the best truck I had owned up until a month ago.

My buddy's 06 at 126,000 miles:

One axle seal-under warrenty

Oil and filter changes

Tires

His was built in Mexico as was mine. I only have 45,000 miles with nothing wrong yet. Hope to see many trouble free years ahead.

My 04 has 110. 000 on it and has had 3 sets of tires, 1 rear u joint, many oil changes, rail pressure switch and now is needing 2 injectors. I also have run 10k of veg oil in it ... Its been good to me:):)

i believe there was a poll done that said mexican trucks were proving to be more reliable than US built. my 06 was built in the US and was in the shop 3x in 15k. dumped that POS real quick. my 97 in a mexican and i just replaced the original ujoints.

I dunno, I am on my fifth third gen and still love them to death:) I had an '03 dually till 100k, all it ever needed was a couple u-joints and the front axle u-joints finally gave up near the end. This was run commercially, multiple drivers in northern Minnesota, talk about a hard life! The '03 QC fried a transmission at 73k. It was blamed on a bad cooling fan switch, that and the temp light never came on. Still not bad for a work truck worked hard, put 85k total on that one. The next two I didn't keep long, but lost one injector on the '05 at 5k miles, sold at 45k. Mega never had a problem, oh wait, a transmission but my ex dropped it into R at 45 mph with a loaded horse trailer in tow:eek: Pretty sure it wasn't a fault of the truck. My current '06 has 82k, is the first one I have modded and runs awesome. Lost a window regulator and had the ball joints done at 72k.

I had an '01 D-max till 100k miles. Lots of issues. Seat broke, computer failed, trans sensors failed, lots of reflashes to fix drivability items. Had an '03 as well, cooked the allison before 35k. Just lost faith in that brand after owning them for years prior to the D-maxes.

None of them are perfect, I still think the Dodges are the best, and I KNOW the Cummins is the best.

Happy so far.

I have 110,000 on my '05 so far. At about 50,000 I had to replace the Driver's doorlock solenoid (36K warranty gone). At just over 100,000 I had to replace the Serpentine Tensioner assembly.

At 60,000 my 04's lost 1 unit bearing, about 6 u-joints, 2 rear inner hub seals, 3 injectors, carrier bearing, infinity radio, 2 power windows, lift pump, 4 shocks, vent doors just broke, rear bumper is starting to rust through(from the inside out).

I'm kinda wondering what the next 60K's gonna cost??

My Mexican 04. 5 has new rear driveshaft, new shocks and steering stabilizer getting 4 new ball joints tomorrow and hopefully the vibration/death wobble will be gone. I have 79xxx miles on it. I don't think any of the parts mentioned have to do with where the truck was built unless dodge has different suppliers for different plants.

My 2006 has 208,600 miles on it today. I have replaced the rear extension housing seal on the 48RE (and had a full DTT rebuild/upgrade done because it was apart), a differential pinion seal, and last week, a set of exhaust manifold gaskets. I replaced the shocks with Bilsteins for improved ride and jounce control although the OEMs were still okay. And I recently had the water pump and thermostat replaced although both were still normal. I don't like parts failures on the road and figured both were nearing their expected service life. I have not replaced or repaired anything in/on the cab and no u-joints or front end parts. No engine modules or injectors have been touched.

I had similar experience with my previous '01 which I put 325k miles on and sold it to a family member.

Both were Hecho in Mexico.

If this keeps up, I guess a new D-Max is in the horizon.

The new chevvys might be quicker on the dragstrip, and might have nicer interiors and all that. I just don't think they're more durable than our trucks, Especially with that joke of a front end.

My Mex built 04. 5 has been real good to me. I drive it hard on the srteets of NYC every day, and probably gets more pothole and stop/ go abuse than anyone here. It now has 53K- 95% done in NYC, and it had needed nothing except for the leaky CP3 and shocks. I am watching the left ball joints as they are loosening, and the driver's seat stinks. Unless this truck dosen't have a catastrophic failure ( all indications show it won't) I won't mind doing the maintenance it will need. One thing is for sure- I won't reuse OEM parts pertaining to the suspension. I will be looking hard for improvements.

I don't think any vehicle is perfect, I feel for the people who got the trouble trucks. If you're the type who looks to hold onto something for a while, these trucks are hard to beat.

Just my opinion but I think the Ford King Ranch seats are the sweetest stock seats I've ever seen. So when the truck goes into limp mode because it's been blowing flames a ft out the tail pipe you have really nice seats to sit in on the road side while you wait for everything to cool off. Think I'll stay with my 03 in spite of being on my 3rd set of ball joints, 3rd steering box, and 2nd set of hub bearings. 99k and my CTD needs no crank oil between changes. After 14 yrs of my 89 7. 3 it was quite a pleasent suprise.

Nothing wrong the the front end, just because its different does not mean its bad:-laf. My 06 Dmax had almost 300k and I never touched anything in the front end! Heck if I could have figured out the low fuel pressure problem I would still be driving it.

I think he's referring to the strength. The independent front suspension is not as strong (when modded) as a "live" axle. Ive seen (at truck pulls) modded D-Maxes explode the front end. Definitely the Dodge and even Ford suspension and drivetrain are more beefy. The Chev is more refined an nice, kind of a quick grocery getter, but Ill race anyone of them with 6,000 lbs in the bed.

I've had a total of seven CTD's. Three are now gone and not listed on my sig. of the ones that I have driven over 100K I've replaced:

A starter (copper contacts), and lift pump in my '99

A gasket on my fuel pump on my '93

Other than that none of my CTD's have needed ball joints, U-joints, or any other non-consumable part.

Yes, they've all had brake jobs, replaced shocks, and occasional valve adjustment, and, of course regular service.

How could I not be happy?

I have a long ways to go on my '05 (only about 22K on the ODO) and my '07 with just over 1,000 miles on the ODO, but so far they have been trouble free trucks.

Oh, I just remembered. On my six speed 4X4 '03 the linkage on the transfer case was not fully engaging and the had to R&R the transfer case to fix some bumm machining. Warrantee work.

I can't tell the difference between a Mexico truck and a St'Louis truck. It's all good. :D

100,000 miles trouble free and run hard. replaced normal stuff brakes shocks ball joints u joints. the other stuff were upgrades and truck was only stock about 20,000 miles i can't complain 500+ hp over 1000 fptq and still strong after 80,000 miles

That deal won't last around here- it's been proven. Not just the chevy HD, but any truck IFS including SUV's... Gotta have a solid axle.

Don't know about 100,000 miles but my 05 has just 19,000 miles on it and the injection pump failed once and was resealed then the transmission (48re) got a leak from some where and just today (10-24-07) the truck was back and the dealer for another new injection pump. I guess the "Heavy Duty" emblem on the tailgate doesn't have much meaning anymore. If this keeps up this truck won't last long in my garage.
