Difference In Mileage 48re vs. speed

Shifting question - automatic

My goal is to reach the 550/1200 mark with an automatic transmission(aftermarket, but not sure which one). I currently have a TST and aFe Stage 2 intake but am afraid to go past 3/3 on the TST due to the stock transmission and turbo. The truck does some medium duty towing and needs to be reliable so I would rather over-build everything than keep it on the ragged edge. Thanks for the input, all the information is greatly appreciated. Neil

A lot of money. :-laf

Seriously though...

I'm no expert, but my guess is most here will recommend gauges (if not already), and a DTT transmission. If you're talkin' 550 at the crank I assume, since your 325 is at the crank, then just a Bullydog Crazy Larry program will get you there hp wise. Not sure what the Crazy Larry tq #'s are, but I would imagine you'd be decently close. Stack it with something else, and you're there. Oo.

The experts can give you more advice though, my guess is I'm only pushing about 400/800 right now on the stock 48RE, depending on what I'm using and at what level. Once I get the DTT transmission, I'll be bumping the BD up to the crazy larry and possibly stack my Quad XZT. After that, I should be a happy man, but I'm not sure yet what the output is of the stock injectors. Might need those too.

A big wallet is all you'll need :-laf But seriously Turbo, TST Twins program, sticks, modded CP3, some exhaust and a Edge EZ will get you darn close.

Seems to me if your makeing 1200tq, you would be makeing more than 550hp. Seems like most of the big rollers with 500rwhp are just under 1000rwtq. I could be wrong though, in fact I was wrong more than I was right at work today!!

tst twins program ,ez, twins for great driver or big single super phat shaft 66 seem to be a popular choice with the 6spd drivers ,transmission and at least a fass95 or similar pump. their right ,bunch of money more than 8,000 less than 15,000 :-laf man its fun

It seems that everyone leans toward DTT, any feedback on Suncoast or Goerend as far as transmissions go? Thanks for all the information, this site is great!

I'm a DTT guy myself (mostly because I trust my intaller) but the other two mentioned will put the power down also, choose based on the installers. BTW a good installer will let you drive a truck or two to showcase the product he installs.

And I still say you wont make more than twice the torque as h. p. i. e 1200lb tq will be at least 600hp, probably more and 550hp probably wont equate to much more than 1000lb tq.

some companys offer a ok transmission at a high price, and some will accually give you what you pay for-- and then back you up with good customer service and warranty replacement. good luck :-laf

tst twins program, ez, afe Stg 2, sps 62/14, DTT and DPP 150 fuel pump got me around 520 hp. Now by adding a modified Cp3, 550 easy. But the torque won't be near 1200, maybe between 1000-1100.

I have to vote for a Goerend transmission and HTT Sled Puller 66 and start with a TST box. HTT has some changes in the works on there chargers. PM me for some info on it

$10,000 - No Joke - Unless you can do all the work yourself - like the transmission

Isn't that the truth...

$800 - TST

$400 - EZ

$1500 - 66mm turbo

$300 - lift pump setup (any of them)

-------------

Thats $3000 to make 500+ horses. Then you need like another $4000-6000 on an auto trans upgrade to make it get to the ground

Gotta love it... ...
