I have a 99... only problem in over 30K is a replaced oil pressure sending unit. I have a Blue Box, and not one bit of trouble with the VP44, even using those "pesky" scotchlocks.
I have towed and hauled a lot. No problems.
I don't pay much attention to automatics, but I thought the increased power didn't come til 2001, along with the ETH. Someone with a 2000 auto want to chime in?
