I've got about 1000 miles left before the warranty is up. So I'm getting everything straight at the dealer at once. I found TSB 19-10-97 about the over center adjustment on the dodgeram.org site, and it mentioned the track bar. However the language of the note in the TSB sounded like maybe it was someone's add-lib instead of an actual tech document from DC. Is there an official TSB on the track bar, or can I just take them what I've got? Is there anything else I can have them do to the steering under warranty while I have it there?

Thanks.

Not sure if you know but a TSB has nothing to do with warranty, all they are are instructions on how to identify and fix common problems. If your truck isn't exhibiting the typical symptoms of a worn trackbar i. e. drifting the dealer may charge you just to check it. They aren't going to fix anything that isn't causing a problem they can replicate under warranty.

Thanks for the TSB # & info.

I'll just go in complaining of steering problems (which I do have) and hand them the TSB's as a suggestion. They seem like a pretty good dealer, and I havent been in there pestering them about every little thing, so maybe they'll work with me. What are the "key" words that you have to say to the service writer to cue them to do each of the TSB's? I think for the track bar it's "drifting through corners", and for the over center adjustment, it's "excessive steering input to keep the truck straight. " Are these right?

Why not just check the track bar and determine if it's bad? That's what the dealer will do. Have someone move the steering wheel while you watch from under the truck. Check the drivers end of the bar (the ball & socket) for excessive movement. If the axle moves sideways before the wheels turn, the track bar is worn out.
