Hauler/transporter insurance?

Best way to Table Rock SP with truck and 30' TT

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering, what brand of horse trailer do y'all prefer?

Bloomer, Hart, 4-star, Platinum in that order for me. I think I might have a good deal on a Platinum. Can't wait, and neither can the horses... They give me dirty looks when I ask them to hop in the old stock trailer :-laf

Have you checked out Featherlite trailers? They are built in Iowa and have a well-respected reputation. Built to standards similar to those of Hart trailers. Just thought you might like one more idea. Good Luck

Go Bloomer!

Featherlite is a good trailer, but you must have metric and standard to change the tire!

Also, the Bloomer comes with 10-ply michelins, drop windows on both sides, and lots of other cool features... but you do have to pay for it, Bloomers aren't cheap, but they're nice!

Yeah... if I could afford one... . Bloomer it would be... ... :( ... .

For now, I think I might have a partial sponsorship for a Platinum. We'll see, I'm supposed to hear back from the local dealer tomorrow (I've known them since I was a kid). I'm just gonna get a 4 horse gn right now. When it's time for my living quarters, I want a bloomer. Cowhide wallpaper and all!!

Platinum

I'd go with Platinum. Bloomers are good, but I don't believe worth the premium price. 4-Star is great also. I don't think you could go wrong with any three. My brother has a 4-star 4 horse with 13 ft Outlaw interior; it's pretty cool. Platinum has really done a great job of breaking into the top three or four. Sundowners are popular, too, but way heavy, and like Bloomer, overpriced.

I have a custom-built "coach" with a 13' super slide out. It's really nice, but it's so exclusive, that I can't get any service. I wish I'd gone with a simpler Platinum or 4-Star. Be sure and go with one of the big manufacturers; they'll stand behind their product. I'm having fits getting my custom, premium, whiz-bang trailer fixed.

I cant remember ever seeing a Platinum  . What kind of prices are you looking at for a 4h with 4ft short wall?

Will be needing a nice trailer when the rodeo road calls.

We have a 4-star 2 horse with an 8 ft short wall done by outlaw. Great trailer one of the best in my opinion. If you are looking into getting living quarters check out OUTLAW conversions in Stephenville, Texas have not had any problems with trailer or living quarters.

Retail on this 4H I'm looking at right now is $29k. Trailer has almost all the options you can get... . hay rack, drop down butt windows, battery box, manger, stud stall, + some more that i'm not remembering right now. I think the front tack is either 4ft or 6ft on the shortwall. I can get it for $24k. Kinda steep, but I need something fancy for my training business. It's hard to pick up a customers horse with a rusty old stock trailer.

I like the sundowners, and I can get a good deal on them too. That is basically my next option if this deal goes through.

Thanks again for the input guys, you are great!

I have a 97 Sundowner 8006 (all aluminium 4h 8' wide and it has a 6' short wall LQ). We really like it. It is the only LQ package I could find that did not over load a 2500, have a full bathroom and a place to sit. The trailer it self is in AWESOME shape and definitely over built. After doing a lot of research I don't think there is another manufacturer other then Bloomer that builds a trailer as good. Here is a forum for horse trailers. http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/forum/forum-view.asp?forumid=2

Must be nice

Those are all top end trailers. I like the 4 Star, but can only afford an Exiss XT306. It's a great trailer for now, or until I win the Lotto. I just keep forgetting to play though. Oh well, I'll have to settle with my Exiss. Good luck with your shopping. :)

Maybe you are talking about horse only trailers, but we have a 24 ft travalong livestock trailer. (for some reason I can't remember how that is spelled). This is a heavy trailer, but this a very stout unit. Even bulls haven't hurt it yet.

"What's the hot brand for horse trailers?"

1. The one you own!!!!

2. The one you dream about"

3. The one everyone else tells you that you should have bought cause... !!!

Been really happy :D with my Cherokee 3H w/LQ, for 11 years now, but as you can tell not necessarily into the latest/greatest :)

Personally, my favorite is Elite. I don't think anyone mentioned it yet. They are nice looking, functional, well built and easy to pull. My other favorites are Platinum Coach, C&C Trailers, 4-Star. If money or weight was no object I would think about a Bloomer or Sundowner.

Horse Trailer World is a great resource to check prices and see a wide variety of trailers. Prices vary greatly from dealer to dealer. Shop around and take a drive east to save some money.

I think you need to define you needs. For my needs a stock trailer was the way to go so I purchased a Wilson. This gives me the most flexibility and they can be built to your specifications including a dressing room. I have experience with Platinum (very well made), Sundowner (also well made) but you do pay for the name. Merhow makes a great line of trailers at a reasonable price and they are light weight. I looked at Classic and was not comfortable they would hold-up for my use... Hay racks look nice but its a bear to get the hay up there... Good Luck, Bill

I own a 4 Star 3H 4' Mid Tack 10' LQ done by Double D. I picked it up used for a song in Florida. I shopped for 3 months before seeing this one advertised on Horse Trailer World. This is my first and last. It is built well. I looked only at the top of the line trailers and then found one that was not used that much. It's 2000 I have had it for a year. It looks good behind the new CTD I had to buy to pull it. :D :) The graphics even matched!

Goodluck,

Warren

We have/had Cherokee, Charmac, and Barrett 8 horse trailers here. Our concensus is Barrett is the pick of the litter. These are simple straight forward horse trailers, e. g. tack room but not a "living quarters".

Sundowner Trailers if you want living quaters. You can't beat them in my mind.

I agree Sundowner's are the best trailers i've ever pulled,, i've pulled a 38ft 6H head to head(the only type of trailer i will ever own) I HATE SLANT LOADS. and a 4 h head to head with LQ, both are VERY nice
