Well, it sorta fell out of the the trailer, not off of the trailer. I had just spent a week in the sand dunes with some friends, and on the way home, one of the guy's trucks woofed a trans about an hour from home. I went home, unhooked my trailer and went back to haul his travel trailer home. On the way home with his trailer, a truck in front of me lost a drive shaft, which came loose and was sliding down the freeway. Because of traffic around me, I had nowhere to go but over it. My truck cleared it okay but it kicked up under the travel trailer and took out the holding tank for the crapper. 40 gallons of week old waste hit the ground in a few seconds, at 70 mph. My friend was in the next lane over and said it was quite a sight.

Bill,

I saw in the paper that a big rig, driver and all blew off that bridge a few days ago. They were reporting 60MPH winds. He lost his life, they found him still belted in the drivers seat.

As you probably know that is a very popular area for wind surfing on the Columbia River.

Nothing fell off my truck but ram4sam's story reminded me of one. My friend drives for a wrecking yard and he got a call to go out on I94 and pick up a grey hound bus, the story goes someting like he had to crawl under the bus to hook up the tow strap and it got caught on the pull handle for the dump of the waste tank and its 0 degrees outside, neither one was a pretty sight.

Ill, No way, kept the hammer down! The EPA would throw me in jail for that one. From what I saw in the rearview mirror, I knew it wasn't the fresh water tank.

Had a buddy and his wife driving thier diesel pusher from Florida Keys to Oklahoma. They were towing an open, 2-axle car trailer with a beautifully restored Porsche 356 on it. Somewhere out there, in the dark of night and invisible to the rear-facing TV camera, the trailer got a mind of its own and left the party! When they got to where they were going, they noticed the obvious shortness of their rig... and not knowing exactly WHERE they lost it, they had to back-track to where they last KNOW they saw it back there! The car and trailer were found, 20 yards back in the woods off the interstate and amazingly undamaged! Me? Mines not nearly as glamorous as ya'lls

This was worst for the car next to me! I was hauling a load of calfs to market and stop at the red light and few of my babies were just removed from rich feed and lush green stuff. Well you can just guess what happened. I was laughing so hard the light turned green I just sat there busting a gut. The fellow next to me was not laughing . It was a pretty shade of brown all over the side of his car. I decided to leave!!!!!

Larry,
It sure is a small world, I had to really think to figure out when that happened, 1984, seems like just yesterday.

I was hauling cattle to the Omaha yards one time and sitting still in traffic in Council Bluffs and a cow in the truck ahead of me wizzed right thru the sideboards and into someones convertible! The guy in the car was literally PO'd but just wanted to get as far away from that truck as possible. Craig

The worst thing to fall off my car hauller was my Race car! 74 Duster(Super Pro).
I was towing home from the yearly Car Show at
work,i was almost home ,about 3 blocks away
i stopped at a stop sign ,started to pull away when i looked in the rear view and saw my Baby rolling off the back of the trailer. OH SH-T ther goes my car rolling down the road backwards. Lucky for me the 2 back straps stopped the car from rolling all the way off . The car didn't get hurt but it sure was close ! the worst thing was some kids were getting out of school and saw the whole thing,HOW EMBARRASING !
Three weeks before i just finished installing the Ladder Bar Rear Susp, everything is Powercoated,it didn't get touched! boy was i glad when i took the car to the Drags the car hooked-up great ,wheels up in the air leaving the line on the trans break. What A Rush.

considering my job you'll like this. i was towing a car trailer I had built loaded w/ 71 Camaro down a two lane road in Miss. I hear this flapping noise, check drivers mirror>nothing, as I check the pass mirror I see the trailer fender standing straight up and then fly away. I had 4 cars behind me and I just kept going. the ironic part is I am a Aircraft & Missle certified welder and, I ripped the drivers side fender off when I got home, its welds were cracked also #ad

45 bales of hay on a 109* day. That may not seem to bad but I had just stacked those 45 and 105 more out of the field 15 min before feeding the highway. Fortunatly 2 trucks stopped to help, good thing cause I was really draggin' a$$ by then. It'll sure be nice when the kids get old enough to westle them bales #ad

Thought I'd do the boss a favor. His grandfather needed his golf cart hauled in for repairs. Borrowed a friends old snowmobile trailer and loaded it up. Made the mistake of stopping for lunch afterwards. When I went to pull the back of the trailer around so We could leave, the axle, springs and shackles fell off. Bungied them up and drove on home... slooooooooowly.

Not me but someone I was running with. We were hauling fly ash west, coal back east. The net covering my buddies fly ash suddenly ripped in half. Quite the dust storm until he got stopped and we tarped it off with a solid tarp. Good thing it was along a quiet spot on I-80.

Off topic here; we were hauling deep mined highway salt out of Port Newark, NJ. Municipal workers did not like lumpy salt as it would clog the spreader. Well, one of the guys used his dump trailer for a toilet one day. When he dumped his next load of salt, this over zealous guy on the recieving end sees this lump, runs over, picks it up and squeezes it to see how easy it would break up... .

Not off a trailer, but an old Haybaler flatbed
2. 5 T truck. I was 18-19 years old, part time for a lumber co. in Albuquerque. They had me take the old truck out on a special run with 50 sheets of 4' X 8' 3/4" plywood loaded over the rear axle. The yard guys told me it was tied down-I didn't check it. Made it 2-3 miles from the yard and crossed some RR tracks-looked like an onion coming apart-plywood everywhere! The wind caught that plywood and laid it down all over the road-what a mess! I loaded all 50 sheets by myself-it was HOT that day-thought I was dead by the time I got that load delivered. Thanks be that the customer was going to use it to make porta-johns, so they didn't complain about the damage. I ALWAYS check my load now-I do learn!

'bout five years ago, we were nothbound about an hour north of San Fansico on 101 in heavy traffic. Suddenly ahead of me there was a lot of dust, brake lights and cars at weird angles. Before I could get slowed much at all, we burst into view of the problem. A roll of carpet about 18 inches in diameter and maybe 10 feet long blocking most of the fast lane (the one I was in driving my wife's T-bird) and part of the slow lane. Since there was traffic beside me on the right, I did what some car(s) ahead had done--took to the medeian (sp?). By good fortune, it was not steep at all, but at about 60mph, it was still a bit of a ride and we were nearly sideways before getting it sorted out and back on the pavement. About 200 yards on there was a pickup and trailer off on the right side with a lady standing behind bent over with both hands on top here head, and mouth wide open---I guessed waiting for the wreck that was surely going to happen.

More excitment than we needed.

Vaughn
