I got halfway completed removing my dual filter fuel system from Glacier, now I'm fixing up the truck again. It's been years since I've worked on it, and I have a question about a hose coming out of my completed system.
It's a 2 filter system, which Glacier doesn't sell anymore. I have a rubber 3/8" line which comes from a draw straw in tank. This line goes to my mechanical fuel pump under radiator. This has a little fan belt that's run off the balancer, which turns the pump. I have also left the stock electric pump in. This has the stock hardline from where it mounts on top of fuel tank, and attaches to system just below stock fuel filter on truck. The pump supplies plenty of fuel, and since the electric pump is still there, you always have fuel at engine fuel filter. It really only runs when the drawstraw doesn't reach to last couple of gallons of fuel in tank (or when you've opened system)

So the aftermarket system has a 3/8" line going to and coming back from mechanical pump. When it leaves the pump it goes through the dual filter system, and then it branches off. This is where my question is. It has a brass fitting at upper left of picture, does anybody know what that is? Is this blocking fuel for the hose that I have a question about? That hose just ends around near fuel tank and I cannot remember it's purpose. I can't find where it would hook up, at fuel tank or anywhere else. Is this some kind of overflow device, which pressurizes system, but with over pressure allows to dump fuel overboard in some cases? Seems it would work if I just plugged that line after it branches off, but I'm sure it's there for SOMETHING, but I cannot remember what it is!
Left a message for Richard at Glacier, hopefully he'll call back before weekend
REALLY like to get this thing started, and after I get another brake line, it will be driveable (although w/o driver's door, left fender, hood, front bumper etc.
Looks like a great truck aside from where I've wrecked it!

The way it is now, (you can see where it branches) one part of mechanical fuel pump system is routed to stock system just below stock fuel filter. No questioins there. The OTHER hose you can see leaving the branch and it goes to that brass fitting, and then goes to a 3/8" fuel line that is rather haphazardly cut to end around fuel tank. Obviously this should be hooked up to something SOMEWHERE but I don't see anything it could attach to.
But if that fitting is some kind of fuel constrictor, .......?

I don't have anything to offer regarding the fuel line, but I did notice what appears to be a kink in the fuel hose between the tee and the fuel filter. You may want to give the rest of the fuel system a thorough inspection.

That long brass fitting is a check for sure. This is why I wanted to use steel line in my home brewed filter kit. Look at that kinked line! I bet all that is soft and brittle and porous at the same time. Fix em up!

I agree with John, the brass piece looks like a check valve. I would be addressing the kinked hose here...View attachment 126947
That hose is in even worse shape than it looks. I've ordered more, like to replace it ALL, even with expense of ~$5/ft.

Originally, this hose was all good quality hose, made for this application. However, after greater than 10 years (I think I put that system in around 2007-2008 give or take a year) it now has cracks in it, and that kinked piece is totally waiting to leak/break.

Thank you all for the info, and also for highlighting that bad hose!

That info sheet is EXACTLY what I needed. I looked at Glacier at their instruction booklets, but obviously missed this one. Thanks, Tuesdak ! Now I don't have to guess !! A big improvement !!
