Competition Glowing turbo stories

Competition 0-60 times. whats fast?

A couple reasons off the cuff...

One, the shock load to the drivetrain when the nitrous comes on is very abrupt and the chances of drivetrain failure is much greater.

Two, the sled pull tracks usually have spectators in close proximity to the action making number one a greater risk of bystander injury.

Thats the first two that came to mind.

LOL! :-laf

Preston, if you were to say we couldn't be friends, I just don't think I could bear it! ;)

IMHO, Nitrous is a crutch, or a shortcut that people use when they give up on Diesel technology. It is one step away from spark plugs and alcohol.

However, I don't think any less of the dragracers that started to use it, than I did before. :)

But if you feel that way Sledy than why did the DHRA let it fly for Dragsters. I don't need it I was just wondering WHY , we are all in the same DIESEL motorsports weather we are hookin or stripin. what is good for the goose is allways good for the gander.

I'm gonna make a wild stab out there... ...

Tractors and gasser trucks don't use it when they pull.

May as well keep the rules as close as possible all around.

Just an idea.

LOL! Gene :-laf

Let's see... . since nitrous is nothing more than concentrated cool oxygen and not a "Fuel"... . that would mean other "crutches" should include:

Twin Turbos or Turbos in general

Intercoolers

Water Injection

Or anything else used to cool the intake temps or increase intake pressure ;)

Hell, by your statement, anyone driving around anything other than a NA diesel has "given up on Diesel technology"

But what do I know?..... I don't even have a "real" diesel! ROTFLMAO!! :{ Oo. :-laf :-laf

I don't have anything to do with dragracing rules. If I did, no drugs, boys.

Nitrous seems to be accepted in dragracing, outside DHRA, its not in pulling.

Cheating is cheating. If you get caught, that is called LOSING.

Lots of folks over here use lots of NOS. However you won't find it on the BBD :D it is allowed in our mod class. I do use a 12% only water/meth mix for max cooling as my egt's are high, might have something to do with my punny chargers :D

BBD

I don't want to go to that engine builder, lol.

No drugs in DHRA pulling. To my knowledge, there has not been a west coast DHRA pull yet.

BBD lets Ziko run whatever he wants, to make him feel good, then puts a 100 feet on him.

Thats just not nice. :-laf

We are still building the classes (it's only our second year for a series). The new Work Stock class is going to split some folks out of the street class. The idea of a nitrous/single turbo street class isn't bad, just we are not ready for a third class at this time.

We will create classes based off of what we see, if you are pulling with us and want to have a nitrous class, tell tech and he will log it, just like we did for the work stock class. This is the first time I've herard any interest.

Gene... ... you can keep your snot rag in your pocket. I ain't hurting your feelings for nothing . I just can't stand to see an adult  cry.

But the thing I don't understand is why is spray/nitrous cheating or a forgoing diesel technology. If you were talking about propane I would side with you on the issue, but as has been said , it's a coolant, much like spraying water on the turbo's. I really don't get it, as you can tell.

. . Preston. .

Well Gene's got the idea that using nos is cheating, so I don't think we'll ever see it allowed. And we all know that Gene's word is LAW. I think the modified class would be cool with staged chargers vs. single charger and nos.
