05 HO Head on a VP 24Valve??

Broken Torque Convertor hub. What would cause that.

yeah I don't understand myself why I had the trouble with it. . I'm running witht he stocker for now and can keep the heat in check towing light. . I do like the spool up of the stocker thats for sure. . notice I can run the aggresive smarty programs now around town without heavy smoke outs and the trucks a rocket off the line. .

I drove a 12V the other day that I built/tweaked with a SPS 62 on it and it flat rocks, hard to believe that turbo makes that much power... ... 600 or close!

This truck was 446 on #2 and 496 with Water/Meth years ago with an HX-35/18. 5 then went to a borrowed HX-40... ... mine, and now to the 62! Says his towing power is at it's limit because of the noises from strain, not from EGT's

I loved my sps62 on my red truck, so I held onto it and put it on my 'new' white truck. gonna see just how this thing does on an unported/stock cam engine.

currently running around w/ stock injectors and #10 plate full forward. feels pretty good. spools a little later than it did on the ported head :( I was able to drive around the spoolup even spending 3 weeks above 9,000ft

as soon as I get the right mix of weather and inspiration, I'm going to put a re-torque on the studs and install the dragon fly injectors and the Snow stage II, and bump the timing to 20-21*. I did 535 on the red truck w/ the DDP4's and 18. 5*. I'd love to see 550+ on fuel and 575+ w/ water.

I always wondered...

1) is it better to have advanced injection timing to spool turbos or retarded timing to keep more heat energy in the exhaust?

2) does advanced injection timing increase or decrease boost psi for equivalent fueling levels / all other things being equal?

not sure how it effects boost... I've toyed with keeping the timing relatively low (17'ish?) and relying heavily on water/meth for more timing on the big end.

but I really want to see how the thing feels w/ more timing

Forrest, I've been running the SPS62 on my 98 unported 12V with 16. 5 timing, and it's been great. With just the mods I have, hitting 52psi. Backed it down to 46, so I don't lose the headgasket just yet.

on my red truck with stock 215 injectors, custom plate, and modded AFC, I got 55psi out of it right out of the box :D

I ran it at 48psi w/ the DDP4's. I'll probably run it in the high 40's low 50's w/ the new truck

well I thought I'd update everyone on this saga. .

After 6 months I finally recieved my money from II minus a 15% restocking fee if you can believe that horse crap. They couldn't get their turbo to work as stated on my truck and they charged me a restocking fee? We spent countless hours troubleshooting this turbo and addtional dollars purchasing a smarty to isolate possible timing/fueling issues per thier request and this is how they treat customers. I can't blame them 100% as Diesel Performance Warehouse also was involved but between those two there is some ethical issues.

I finally installed my SPS62 from the group buy way back. I hate to say but I sure hope something is wrong cause my EGT's are way worse then my stock turbo. Lag is there but I knew there would be some of that. The EGT's climb right of idle to 850-1200. I have the TST and have kept the same settings I had it on with my stock turbo. 3 power 2 torque. I even started to wonder if my EGT gauge that is built into my TST (R49) is incorrectly stating the temp but then I notice my temp climbs too. I can easily get to 1400 egt. I attempted to check for boost leaks and tightened up everything. Even takes a long time to cooldown @ an idle. To get it to 350 after a normal highway run it will take over 10mins of idle. I think something is wrong as I have heard nothing but praise on this turbo and at current experience, my stock turbo is much better. Thanks for the help.

Ken

I guess HTT isn't the only one having these problems then. The issues you described are the same ones I had with the stainless housing.
