I rotated the tires this past weekend and decided to check and repack the wheel bearings while I was at it. The right front side bearing cap was loose and came off very easily. The left side was fine. There was no leakage and the bearings were in fine shape. It must have been this way from the factory, and it is a little unnerving to realize I've been driving and towing with a potential problem. The good thing is no problem ever arose. I've got 45K on the truck, the bearings all looked good and while re-packing was in order, I was not riding the fine line between happiness and trouble. The brake pads look like they've got another 30-40K on them and the tire wear is good. I'm hoping to get another 20-25K on them. They are the factory supplied tires. I used Amsoil racing lube on the bearings and put Amsoil synthetic 15W40 in the motor. I used the engine flush prior to draining the old oil. Pheewwww!! That stuff smells bad. One nose hit and it's off to the clouds.
