when to pack bearings

i was wanting to know what is a good milage to repack wheel bearings on utility type traliers. i am also interested in getting a odometer on the hubs of my traliers to keep track of milage like the big rigs have , any ideas of were these things are sold or if they have them. :confused:
 
I repack once a year with synthetic wheel bearing grease. Not sure if a hubodometer is worth the investment but here is a link to a place that sells them:

Some manufacturers seem to use only enough grease to get the trailer delivered and sold. I'd recommend repacking a new trailer's bearings soon after purchase, and then checking them once a year.
 
I second what Matt says. Seems like trailers with out brakes go a long ways between repacking. Brakes add heat to the hub. Boat trailers are the worst, and boat trailers in salt water:eek:
