I recently purchased a complete 12 valve out of a 96 that is supposed to be a 96 215 hp. The ID plate on the timing housing looks like it vibrated off along time ago. So where do I find the ID numbers on the pump, and what are the numbers for the different ratings?

On the side of the pump just below the fuel delivery barrel #3 is the Pump Data Tag. This will have the pump serial#, the Bosch ten digit number, and the Bosch designation code.
At the rear of the pump is the Governor Data Tag. this will have the bosch Designation Code, and the Cummins Pump part#.
Now for some numbers:
These are all 215 h. p. :

Frank,
I have been trying to get info on CPL 2308. Do you have any information on that code? Specifically which pump is installed?

I can't locate that CPL# in my Cummins manual.

I know, it seems that I have a "special" engine. When I called up Cummins, they told me that the engine started off life as a 230HP application and was changed at some point. I think that it might have something to do with being one of the last 12V engines to be installed. My build date was in November 1997. It does seem to be a mystery. Thanks for looking.
