Here I am

Where can I find Dodge, Chevy, and Ford HP and Torque charts?

Why the High Fuel prices?

I would like to see how the HP and TQ charts of all of the engines compare. Where they make their power in the RPM range and such. Has anyone compiled this info? I am stronly leaning to an 04 3500 SRW, but think I should at least keep the Dodge boys honest by checking out the competion.

The Cummins H. O. has the DMAX covered down low and at the top. It makes more TQ and HP anywhere in the curve. The PSD also covers the DMAX anywhere in the operating range. The Cummins H. O. has the PSD in torque and HP in the very low RPMS... ie 1400-1800. After that the PSD makes marginally better TQ and HP up to redline. All three are very close. The V-8's offer better "stock" acceleration... but the Cummins is awesome for getting and keeping the load moving... CJ

This article has curves for the 6. 0 PSD. I assume they are the ones published by Ford so take them with a grain of salt just like the ones published in the past by Dodge.

These are all I could find from a outside source.

I test drove a new (02) Ford with the 7. 3 before I bought my truck and I can assure you there's no way that slug could out accelerate my Dodge. I don't know about the 6. 0 but having seen both run on a dyno, it's hard to imagine the ford could ever keep up as it's down about 75 ft lbs from the CTD. Just my . 02 worth.

The new 6. 0 will flat spank a Cummins or a Dmax in any acceleration test. Down 75lbft?? It makes more HP and TQ than than an H. O. The 7. 3 may have less TQ... but they don't make that anymore and the question involved the 6. 0 anyway. I have driven several 6. 0's and tried to keep up with a business acquaintance's in the truck listed below. He ran off and left me. It wasn't even a race. His is a SRW 350 CC 4X4 with an Auto. I would be more than happy to try the same thing with 15K trailers... but that wasn't an option... CJ

At the dyno event near Boise Idaho a couple months ago the two new 6. 0 PSDs that dynoed were about 20hp stronger than the stock '03 HO. The 6. 0s were around 280 and Cummins at 260. But the peak HP came at a considerably higher RPM on the PSD.

Details Meridian Dyno Day Dec 2002

At another dyno event at DDP in Monroe Wa the PSD there came in 4hp shy of the HO Cummins DDP Dyno Day 12-07-02, Monroe WA

EDIT. . .

This new TDR board is seriously WHACKED! No matter what the 2nd link sends you straight to TDR Home Page instead of Northwest BOMBers, but when I go to "edit" it is correct! :confused: :confused: :confused: :-{} :-{}

HERE IT IS AGAIN . . . http://www.nwbombers.com/board/ikonboard.cgi?s=3e4722492f58ffff;act=ST;f=13;t=1611

EDIT (by Steve St. Laurent) . . . .

I fixed it for you, you had two url= statements in a row on that link :D .

I believe I have found my answer. The Cummins is tops in rear wheel torque in stock form from 1800 to 2800 RPMs and I am sure it is better down to 1500 RPMs where you should shift down. In Bombed form the Cummins is a little behind the Chevy above 2000 RPMs but a little better under 2K. The Ford with an EZ beats everybody hands down. I wonder just how hot the EZ is in the Ford. I will probably bomb in a year after a year when my warranty runs out and all the bugs are worked out of the new boxes. Speaking of bugs, the Ford people seem to be going through a lot of growing pains if you check over on their site. If the Dodge dealers were doing a good PDI and topping off the fluids, there would not be many DOA dodges out there.
