I found a "jump to top" and that takes you to essentially the top menu navagation system.

Steve the webmaster reports having to TURN OFF a few things due to HEAVY

VOLUMN.

We have had an HUGE increase in traffic to the site which is causing slow performance problems. Daily traffic has increased 60% over what it was only 2 weeks ago. I was planning a trip to Atlanta in January to reconfigure how the servers operate to handle anticipated traffic but it's grown way beyond my expectations. I turned a few features off temporarily to reduce the load on the server until I can get things under control. Those are the who's online list, the birthday list, the event list, and the forum jump at the bottom of the page. I will be turning them back on when I can. I will be shutting the site down at midnight tonight to do some work on them as a stopgap until I can get down there. Depending on how this goes I may be able to turn them back on in the next couple days.

As an Network Administrator I can appreciate what you are saying. Some times the strangest things prompt necessary action.

Wonder why the huge increase in volume?

Ah well, ours is not to wonder why, ours is to figuer it out, lol (well more actually true than most would believe. That's what I LOVE about this job, NEVER a dull day, something NEW EVERYDAY, and I mean EVERYDAY!).

GREAT work BTW, when I saw your message I remembered the night before when I spent all night rebuilding 2 servers that all of a sudden just died mechanically in the same night within about 30 minutes of each other. Both had been running for between 3 - 5 years and were as bulletproof as you can get them. A RAID 5 system trashed 2 SCSI hot swap drives simultaneously (now what's the probability of that?), a dual failover power supply trashed a MB as well as the RAID 5 drive package. Oh, and of course, be at work at 08:00 for a full day after a FULL night (gee, Mr. Weis did you forget to shave this morning?).
