as the title says, I was wondering how high the rear diff vent is. i found the front one, goes up into the engine compartment so no worries about water there, but I was wondering where they would stick the rear one?

rear vent

Coalsmoke;

It goes up to the bottom of the bed over by the frame. I have been toying with the idea of lengthening it and go up into a stake pocket, just in case of DEEP water. on the front a lot of owners complain about oil seepage out of the tube, "fix" was to extend the hose up by the fender. mine still pukes a little on long runs.

To be more exact... it is located on the drivers side,top of the rear axle. Look for the brake lines, there is a t-fitting that has a black rubber hose coming off it. This hose is the vent, and runs up to the frame rail and terminates.

thanks guys. I too would like to extend it for possible creek crossings. Is there a concern with using too much hose? Could I run it up into the engine bay by the front diff vent?

For deep water crossings should the blow-by tube be extended up and back so that it wont seal when under water, or will it exert enough pressure and turbulance to cause a bit of an air pocket around the tube under the water so that it does not need to be moved?
