I was reading through the PacBrake online installation manual, and here's what it says about connecting the brake control to ECM Pin #20:

b. Remove the two capscrews that attach the fuel filter head to aftercooler, this should allow enough clearance to access the 50 pin connector.
c. Locate the 50 pin connector at the ECM, remove the center bolt carefully using a #25 torx.
d. Locate port #20 and remove the sealing plug. Install the switch and wires as shown in the schematic for your application.

This makes it sound like the connector is near the fuel filter!?? I thought the ECM was the thing that sits on the firewall on the passengerside, below where we cut our 4" hole for the Psychotty intake. If I'm right, which of these three connectors has the correct Pin #20? If I'm not right, then where exactly are they talking about?

I'm determined to get my US Gear exhaust brake working off of Pin #20, because you can't use it with the cruise control set, since the 24V trucks have that computer-controlled throttle/cruise bit, that lets the pedal sit not-pressed, thus making the exhaust brake think no throttle is being applied.

But before I can do this, I have to FIND Pin #20. #ad

Thanks!

Rob

The ECM (Engine Control Module) is located on the driver's side of the engine, aft of the injection pump, and behind the fuel filter assembly. You will need to connect to Pin #20 on this module.

The module you are talking about is the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) controls the transmission, A/C, and cruise control. It is located on the passenger side of the truck, behind the air filter housing.

There are several other electronic modules in the truck, including the CTM, IEM, and FPCM. Seems like everything is electronically controlled. #ad

The ECM is attached to the left side of the engine. It has a connector with a large collection of wires attached to it . The connector is removed using a 4 mm hex wrench. Pin #20 is in the right hand column, second row from the top.

You will actually be attaching your wire to the connector -not the ECM itself.

Rob,I believe that the ECM they are referring to is the Cummins ECM located behind the fuel filter housing on the left side of the engine. This connection allows you to delete the microswitch on the accelerator pedal and this way it has a 2 second delay from the ECM before the solenoid is activated on the Pacbrake.
hope this helps.
I installed mine quite awhile back and went the microswitch route on the fuel pedal. This way I can activate the Pac immediately with the switch I have on the shifter.

Sent you an e-mail about it. It was discussed last year (or earlier this year) so a search shud find it.

For all the others, it is behind the fuel filter (remove the mounting bolts for the filter and the ECM connector is accessable). Pin #20 has a plug in it and it is on the end towards the rear of the truck (firewall side). My filler plug was red in color and used a paper clip to remove it. Just be sure you really SEAT the pin/wire into the hole (it would push out if not seated FIRMLY).

I have to "tap" the go pedal in the morn to engage the brake if I want to use it for warm-up. This gives about a 2-3 sec delay when you letup on the go pedal before the brake engages.

When you pull that 50 pin connector off and get ready to insert the wire and pin, make sure you double check that you are in fact on pin 20. Once that pin is inserted it is not going to come back out unless you have an unlocking tool. The nice thing about the install is that once your up and functional with the E-Brake, you can use it with the cruise control. When I'm towing, I'll set the cruis up to speed and then slip on the brake. It will not come on untill it is needed in a steep down hill run. The combination of the cruise and the E-Brake through the mountians is really nice.
