As far as tools go, The popular ratchet wrenches tell the story. I bought a set of the "Gear wrench" made in Taiwan. The jaws are CRAP on those things. had them one week and traded them for the Made in USA Armstrong ratchet wrenches. Much better quality and jaw strength. After over two years of use, I have had no problems with the three sets of Armstrong wrenches. The Craftsman ratchet wrenches are made by Armstrong (also in USA), but the Blue Point (cheap line of Snap On) and KD tools versions are the Taiwan made "Gear Wrench". Armstrong is about twice as expensive, but quality is well over twice as good, therefore making them a wise investment.
I have seen plenty of "lifetime warranty" import tools, but they are not worth the inconvenience when a broken tool will not get the job done. I use my tools everyday and am proud to trust the quality of American made tools.
Buy MADE IN USA whenever possible.
