Joe D. , thanks for the offer to meet and the tip about black RTV. I hadn't thought of using that. I picked up some button head screws the other day. I will send you a PM about the break offs tonight when I have more time.
Forrest, thanks for the further info about coil bind with the star wheel. I tightened the wheel about 18 clicks from stock, and did not notice any difference in full boost EGTs. I hadn't made the connection between the necessity of full tightening in order to affect lever travel at full boost, although C. Harlan did mention tightening all the way.
I ended up using a chisel to turn (and mangle

) the break off screw. I figured I might as well open up my pump after all these years of reading about it. :-laf The AFC housing is going to go forward anyways, after my inspection. I then slid my plate back about 3mm, so I think my EGTs are tame enough now. I need to do a test run today with warmer outside temps.
Thanks to everybody for your input and expertise. I'll let you know how it turns out.
