I've seen these new cars with the new HID really intense headlamp system. My question is where or can I get my hand's on some of the new style replacement bulbs.

There is a company that makes a direct replacement HID for our 9004's. There is one catch. They are spendy. I will post that link below. I got some 85/100 bulbs from another place. They work great and they were under $30 for the pair. That link is below also. Hope this helps.

you know... the punk (Evan Beck) purchased a set of the HID replacement lights for his Ram several months ago. I'm not sure if he has found the time to install them or not.

Evan?

I have a set of them in my 3500 and love them. There are two companies that have them to my knowledge, APC and Matrix. The APC brand is available in Jegs.

John, I got the HID kit right here, just need to install the thing. Here's a few specs on the system:

Halogen (stock)

Watts: 55
Lumens: 1,000

HID:

Watts: 35
Lumens: 3,200

More efficient, to say the least! #ad

Question for those with the HID lights. I looked at the link above (I think they sell Phillips) and they indicate in the FAQ's that this is a low beam conversion only, and since our trucks use a single bulb (except for Sports) that we would not have a high beam any longer. The solution is to jury rig a second bulb in the housings. $600+ is a lot of money to spend just to get the low beams converted plus losing the high beams.

Any comments? Is this really true? I can't believe that even HID lights negate the need for high beams.

Maybe you need to convert to Sport lights first? We are starting to talk about a $1000 conversion if that is true!

PLEASE... . PLEASE do not buy the blue "ZENON" bulbs. They are a total waste. If anyone is interested, I unfortunately was dumb enough to buy a new set of pricey 9005-9006. 15 minutes later, the stock lamps were back in. I'll gladly sell them for half of what I paid for those who are interested. I learned this lesson the hard(expensive) way. While its true that they provide more LUMENS, they provide most of em in the spectrum we as humans don't see very well. Naturally, I learn this AFTER I bought em.

In other words... its kind of like having a wonderful 10 watt ultraviolet light that puts out a million lumens... its worth NOTHING.

All I ask is that you do a little research before you break open the wallet. I wish someone would have gave me that advice a few months ago.

As for "HID". . Same thing. . Unless you plan to replace the RAM's headlight fixtures with one's designed to properly focus its light spectrum... Your wasting a ton of money.

Best bang for your Ram is still... a slightly higher wattage bulb.

My understanding is that they sell a direct replacement kit for the 9004 light bulbs. When I asked him about high beams (part of the warning lights on my truck) he said that the new bulbs should not interfere with it's operation. I made sure to ask him specifically about the high beams as that is what flashes on the truck. He also said that they are a cold strike light bulb. So they can take the flashing better than other lighting systems. I sure hope this helps out. I may give them a call to confirm what was told to me.

I think everyone should read the bottom line very close on these lights.
1. It is not really a 9004 replacement bulb
but a kit that changes out the lens.
2. Your not told this but you don't take a
screwdriver and adjust these lights, they
must be dialed in with special tools.
3. You do loose your high beam.
4. They are not street legal in any state
unless they are oem from the factory.

Awful lot of money for something thats going to get you a ticket every time you turn them on while on the streets.

I gotta comment here. Here in NJ we no longer have any kind of state inspection for driving lights. One of my biggest pet peaves is all of these a holes(4 out of every 10 motor veh)driving at night with light shinning right into your frigin eyes. If I was a cop thats all I would do is give tickets to these knucleheads. Alot of my firneds are cops and my uncle is even a trooper in NJ. They can't stand it either.

So in response to being worried about getting a ticket for some HID system on my truck. I would not worry about it. What cops know what is stock or not. Only a Ram owner. And just like when I got pulled over driving my Porsche on 295. The cop just purchased a 944 and wanted to talk to me about my car. He did not even care that I run with no front tag, tinted windows and Big 4. 5 dual B&B stainless muffler with no cat.

I would love to have a HID set up. I would not think twice about installing it. I just have to hit the lottery to have the money to waste.

I live in New Jersey and have been running my HID setup for about 7 months now. I have never been bothered by local law enforcement about my lights. Here's why: they are an excellent conversion that are aimed correctly. I rarely if ever get flashed by oncoming motorists.

Just to clear up a few things: These are replacement bulbs that fit in the stock bulb location, however, they have a ballast. Nothing is done to the lens/reflector assy. in a Ram application. These lights are adjusted the same way you would adjust the stock ones. Maybe just aim them a little lower. No special tools required, (unless a torx driver is special. ) You do lose your high beam, Sport headlights are needed. Although it is true that the reflector/lens assy in the Ram is optimized for halogen lamps, that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't work with HID. You just need to find a kit from a company that has taken that into consideration. My Phoenix Micro-Lite kit provides me with an excellent beam pattern of intense white light. I don't think I wasted my money at all.
