How far are you willing to travel ? Are you planning RV outings for the season or just a week or two vacation. We always have a lot of fun in Lancaster. PA area. We go to Dutch Wonderland and stay in the adjacent Old Millstream Campground which is right next door... spend day in Park and retreat to RV for lunch and naps and then go back afterwards. Very good way to save money and keep children entertained! Take the scenic train ride in Strasburg and eat a picnic lunch w/family along the way... another cheap family alternative. Plenty to do there without children getting bored for a week... try it!!My girls are 3 and 17mos. and we are looking forward to going this year... much easier this year since our youngest is walking now !!Just my suggestion!!!!

My wife and I like to go to a State owned campground in Baltic (aka sprague), CT called Salt Rock. Used to be privately owned, then the State bought it. Has great big sports field for running and playing including volleyball. Pool and small playground area for kids. Dogs are allowed if you have any-this is rare for a CT state owned place. It's on a river for fishing/canoing/kayacking. It's also in the southeast section of CT so it's close to other attractions such as Mystic Aquarium, etc. Not too far to travel for you. Maine and New Hampshire also offer great places depending upon how far you want to travel. Gunstock Mountain Campground in Guilford, N. H. is great! About 2 1/2 or 3 hours from Boston. Good luck and happy trails.

We alway went north as a kid. North Conway area has lots to do with kids. StoryLand and other kid friendly places are fun for the little ones, and you can take them to the top of Mt. Washington on the Cog Railway or drive up in your truck. Tons of shopping, hiking, canoe the Saco, Fairs in the fall (Topsfield, MA, and Fryeburg, ME). Take them fishing, biking, or go to the Maine seacoast for lighthouses, tide pool wading, Whale watches etc...

We used to stay at a campground called Pine Knoll. Great little place on a small lake. Nice beach and some waterfront campsites. Camping on the Saco river is O. K. , but swimming is painful in the river which is basically snowmelt for half the summer. COLD!
Pine Knoll Campground & RV Resort - Albany, New Hampshire United States RV Campground

We used to camp in York Beach, ME too. Walk to the beach, see Nubble light, restaurants, shops, rocky coast and beaches.
Camp Eaton -- Oceanside RV Camping Campground Long Sand Beach, Southern Maine

Man I hate Cincinnati!

Spent two weeks every summer as a kid camping at North Truro Campground on the Cape. What a blast. Ocean, bay, woods, hiking, dunes, golf, etc. Don't know what it's like now, that was 35-40 years ago.
