Is there some kind of screen in the bottom of the dip stick tube? Went to do my first oil analysis and could not get the tubing to even contact any oil.

No it is not low and yes the tubing is long enough. :-laf

I plan on changing it anyway but prefer the cleaner option.

I was told by a tech at one of the testing companies that you will get a more accurate sample by doing the following:

- Run the engine for a short period to warm the oil and evenly mix any contaminants with the oil.

- Shut down the engine and start draining the oil from the pan.

- Pull the sample when the oil is about halfway drained.

This is a bit messy but it supposedly gives the best sample.

This is the best place to draw an oil sample using a hand pump and the plastic tubing. There is no screen at the bottom of the Dipstick tube. I have drawn samples from many of the CTD trucks.

I installed one of the fumoto valves from QuickOilDrainValve.com, it makes draining the oil much less messy and a lot easier to get a sample. On the first oil change, I soaked everything including myself, the ground, etc. with hot black motor oil to get a sample. I put one of the valves in every vehicle I've owned; I think I am on #7. You can also get the valve from Geno's, although I didn't see any need for the extension that they sell.

Had to get a smaller diameter hose to snake down the dip stick tube.

Using Analysts Inc. through the local John Deere dealership and the provided kit is obviously for use with tractors.

Have a Femco EZ Drain Plug waiting to install!

I use the warm up and 1/2 way through drain method to get my samples. I have a 4x4 that sits taller than your 2x, so I can get a 5gal bucket under the pan with room to spare, I can see where getting a sample would be a little more difficult in less space.
