Just wondering where exactly the blockheater is located at. Ive got an 03 and an 07, the 03 doesnt have the cord and I havent looked on my 07. Its gettin cold (-4 this morning) and, well, without high idle on the 03 it takes for ever to warm up. When we go it, I got under the truck, under the hood, everywhere looking for the heater and/or cord. I never did see that there was even a block heater in it. So where is it supposed to be on both trucks?? Thanks

On my 06, the block heater was in a freeze plug near the oil filter housing.

It will probably have a black screw type cap covering the terminals. You will have to remove the black cap (of course), and if you don't have the correct cord, that will need to be purchased from either you dodge dealer or cummins dealer. Check around for the best prices. When I bought mine, they wanted $39. 00 just for the cord. I purchased because I didn't want to spend any more time looking for one.

Good luck.

Oh yeah, don't forget to buy a timer for it. That way it will save on your electric bill. I purchased a high amp timer from my local WalMart for about $8. 00 dollars.

I have it start 4 hours before I leave for work in the morning.

Thanks. I was aware Id have to buy the cord, but wanted to make sure the heater itself is there. Havent checked the 07, but checked the 03 high and low. Ill check them both around the oil filter. Thanks

Hey `strokeThis07 , hope you found your blockheater location by now. Like RRees said mine was almost at top of oil filter kind-of behind it and just under exhaustmanifold. Removed black cap and called my local Cummins dealer gave them my serial # on engine and they had it in stock about 23-24 $ and the correct factory part for about half what Dodge want`s. :)

Yep, just went out and saw the cord, heard they were tucked up behind the grill and lo and behold... they both had them. No cord shopping needed! So, tonight will be the first time the 03 gets plugged in, and when my 07 gets a new trans Ill be pluggin it in too. Thanks for the pic too, that helped find it.

if I keep my 99 plugged in for atleast 3 hours before I head out, it fires up just like it was summertime, same goes for the old mans 03. I can hear the heater kick on just about as soon as I plug her in, you might want to check your voltage. My truck was not heating up last year when plugged in and low and behold it was the plug, replaced it and works fine now

My '91. 5 has the block heater and cord, and I use it all the time. It's nice to go out in the morning and there is heat in the cab in just a few minutes. My '06 which I just bought about 3 weeks ago has what appears to be a plastic cap over the block heater, but no cord. Think I'm gonna order a cord from Geno's. Be ready for next winter !
