2007 1 Ton Dodge 2 wheel drive--looking for a better than stock Class V hitch. Reese and Putnam don't make a Class V for an 07. Any suggestions????

Thanks,

Jay

Since there is no industry standard of "Class V" I would suggest you look at the different weight ratings of the hitches that are out there. I am sure that there is one or more that meet or exceed what you are planning to tow and it very well could be designated a "Class IV" by it's manufacturer.

As noted in another answer, check actual weight ratings because “Class V” is not standardized. It may be that some manufacturers simply have not updated their catalogs, or have not verified fit, on newer years of trucks. You may want to look into the Reunel bumper with hitch (Reunel Extreme Heavy Duty Bumpers) because it has a high weight rating and the bumper is very stout. The bumper serves as a very strong crossmember to keep the frame from being damaged in a collision, and the bumper will absorb a lot of punishment. The stock rear bumper is only about . 060” thick and is “for display purposes only. ”

Sure they do. Reese Titan (Towboss) and Putnam 25211. Valley has one too. VA82792 Good luck finding a Putnam.

The Torklift Superhitch is available and there is an actual comparision chart on their website that shows tow weights of the Superhitch and the Reese Titan. The Superhitch has much higher tongue weight and towing capacities. I'm not affiliated with them, just a very happy customer.

Joe what happens to the stock hitch?( With the heavy duty rear bumper). I sure would like to get both front and rear. Do you have the rear on your truck? Going to be back in Vegas any time?

Jay, I have the front and rear Reunel bumpers. Installation of the rear bumper was covered in Issue 47, p. 14ff. The rear bumper replaces the factory tubular crossmember, which will have the factory receiver welded to it if you got the hitch option. I'll be in Vegas in 1-2 weeks. -- email address removed --

I also have the Reunel Rear bumper made from polished Stainless steel. It's a very strong bumper and hitch, with a 20k tow rating. Reunel is one of the original custom bumper manufacturers and they do a lot of extreme and custom work for State agencies. There customer service is also excellent. Here are links to pics of mine after I linex'd the step area. Scroll down to Post#3--

PS- I am in no way affiliated with Reunel, only love their (My) custom bumper. Oo.
