I bought a 96 CTD about 4 months ago, and at its first oil change, i filled it up with Amsoil Series 3000 10w-30 and dropped in one of their oil filters. Supposedly the 10w-30 has better wear protection. But the owners manual says 15w-40. I know the oil debate has gone on forever on this bulletin board and several others, but I am curious if on my next change if should go to their 15w-40. I live in texas and deal with hot summers. Am I hurting my CTD, or am i breaking even using the 10w-30(greater wear protection) vs. the 15w-40? Another question, I recently read in the latest inssue of TDR about the differential lube/oil change. I believe it says that the amsoil 75w-90 is almost to slick for the limited slip differential(page 90, Sidebar on Friction Modifier Proportions). Any feedback or comments on anyone else's experiences and what others been dumping in their differntials would be greatly appreciated.
