Mike,
No need for the instructions. Thanks anyway. I put in a call to the Transgo people to see if they had diff. shift kits, guy said they only had one TFOD Diesel shift kit. He really seemed to know his way around Dodge trucks, had TSB's committed to memory, very impressive! He verified that I need to grind down lobe 2 of the shift valve. He said it was no big deal, just a 30 degree agled half way to the middle of the lobe plus or minus 20/1000ths. I think I might check with the Dodge dealer and see if I can just buy that switch valve and send it to them for grinding. I wonder if they will sell just the valve or if they try to sell you the whole valve body.

I to have had the Power Shop do great deal of work for me and just like it has been previously posted they are a first class outfit, emphasis on the first class. The majority of my dealings have been with Chuck but I have talked to the whole group and you will probaly not find a group of guys in a shop type of atmosphere that are more customer oriented than they are. They have my business for life. I live approx. 1 1/2 hrs north and if I had the time I think it would be worth a drive from a couple of days away to get the kind of customer service that these guys are more than willing to give. As you can tell I am very satisified with the service that I have recieved from them. If you have any questions don't hesitate to give them a call. Their Number is (360)825-9400 and their web address is www.thepowershop.com.

Ed,
Now you got me thinking maybe 1 1/2 days drive isn't so bad an idea... I love to drive anyway. I'm thinking of doing the upgrade (converter and valve body myself, but on the other hand I don't want to goof it up. I would probably wait till the snow season is over before driving up there. Is it snowing up there now? When is a good time to drive up that way?
thanks
-Bryan

Bryan:

I don't want to talk you into anything but there really is not enough that I can say about the way that I have been treated at The Power Shop. I don't want you to feel that I am getting anything for you posibley making the drive up here but on the other hand I defenatley don't think that you will be diappointed.

As for our winters up here they are really pretty mild. I would be careful going over the passes especially if it is clear outside, it can be very cold. Just use your best judgement. Do make sure if you come to this part of the country that you bring your web feet, it does tend to rain here its fair share in the winter months. If you are going to wait until after winter the drive here and back couldn't be nicer. You will defenatly see why they call this the Evergreen State.

Make sure that you get the map of there web page and call them when you up as far Tacoma and the will let you know where to go from there.

If you decide to come up drop me an e-mail and I will try to meet you down there or somewhere. Also if you decide to come up have a good trip.

They also have an 800 number 1-800-835-8839. It will save a little money on a phone call. Good luck in your decision.

Ed,
Thanks for the kindly invite, I am still mulling over the decision to go with the Pro-Loc converter/TFOD shift kit... or the BD converter/valve body combo. I'm sure I could do this install myself, but knowing me I will take the transmission in and out 4 times fixing what I do wrong in the first place.
Let's see, the money I save doing it myself... I should be able to pay myself roughly 1. 80 per hour for my time. The last and only time I worked on an auto transmission was a chevy. Imagine my surprise when I laid the transmission on it's side and took off the valve body and saw all these ball bearings roll out and down my sloped driveway... something to be said for having a pro do the work.
