Question on Flux injector

I've had my truck in for white smoke at startup three times. One for the TSB, twice for injectors. It still does it and it does'nt seem to matter what the temp is. I talked to the service manager at my dealer, nice guy. I asked him to check and see if there is any news on this problem since it seems to be common. He checked on it and this is what he was told. They are not doing any warrenty work on white smoke issues and will reject any claims for this problem. They are currently working on a solution and will not do anything for this problem since it is not a safety issue or will not effect motor longevity.

Has anyone else tried to get this problem looked at and heard this? TIA

News to me. If properly diagnosed, you can get parts. The problem is no one wants to take the time to do it right.

I believe that bad injectors will effect the longevity of the motor. Leaking diesel into a cylinder everytime the motor is turned off can not be considered good. From what I have read, if an injector happens to stick open completely you have a potential for melt down. I had the TSB and #6 injector replaced. I believe that I still have flaky injector(s). But you are correct, it is difficult, time consuming and inconvient to get Star to diagnose and replace bad injectors.

Wow, are they thinking you just fell off the turnup truck? All 600/610 puke white smoke at start up and I feel it is due to the new style injectors. Star is having a fit knowing it will cost DC millions to fix all these trucks. My truck has been in countless times for the white smoke problem. I also equipped the service department with a full set of color pictures of the white smoke screen as my truck pulls out of my yard. They still claim it is my error for not letting the truck warm up for 5 min before I put it in gear. They even so much as say that the truck MUST be garaged in a WARM garage to cure this problem. LIke, what kind of excuse is that? My trucks pukes the white stuff if I go to the grocery store for an hour and then come out 1 hour later and start it up. The killer thing is, the dealer claims that they have STILL found NO PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. What a frickin joke. 5 Star??? I guess they get that for conning the consumer into thinking all the defects are caused by the comnsumer. They even so much as told me I failed to break in my truck as per factory specs. Im 52 years old and have had countless diesel trucks and tractors and yet to ever have a smoker like my new CTD. My next ride will be a Toyota Tundra. It will pull my 30' just fine and granted, not as fast to the top of the hill but, the cost of fuel vrs each truck, it will still be much more feasable to drive the Toyota as I only pull 1% of the time with my truck. The toyota rides every bit as well as the Dodge and gets better economy on cheaper fuel. Also has a very good resale as its a Toyota. The only Dodge with a good reasle is the CTD and all of us still have yet to see what the latest oil fiasco is going to do to the value to any diesel truck at trade in time. When My 04 CTD turned into a lemon, the GMC dealer offered me $3000 under wholesale because it was a Dodge and they knew about the rebates of 04 when I tried to trade it off on an new Yukon XL.
Im sorry for the long reply but I feel there was alot that related to the subject so please, NO FLAME

I don't know why you say ALL 600/610's smoke!!! my truck only has 4800 miles on it and has never smoked--anyone who is a real diesel tech can tell you white smoke from a diesel is unburned fuel--in the old days when you had a worn out detroit diesel they would smoke like holy h--l until they ran long enough to get cylinder heat and compression built up and then they would run clean--if you truck is smoking as bad as you say it is I would suggest a oil sample and check for fuel dilution

Mine did NOT smoke at all, none, couldnt make it smoke the first 7500 miles. Then the WHITE smoke (I thought BLACK smoke was unburnt fuel) started and very rough idle and hard start. It was a bad injector, and it still idles rough and is starting the NOT normal, at least not normal for this truck, WHITE smoke again. Sorry, it is just a PITA. If I had the money I would have performance injectors installed and hopefully be done with it.

PJ,

Don't let your truck warm up too much or the dealer will tell you the white smoke is caused by execessive idling. Some are told not enough warm-up and others too much time warming up.

Hows that for dealer talk?

Actually, Mine is doing fine now. It seemed that it was the cold weather. I do a start up, kick in the fast idle and wait 30 sec and throw it in drive. . Hmmmm, White smoke no more! Could DC have been right?
Gee, i have nothing to complain about at this time!

Glad to hear it PJ!

As a past Tundra owner I was going to suggest you hook up your 30 footer to a Tundra before you buy. I loved my Tundra but it was a dealth mobile on the highway towing our 21 footer. It had "enough" power but not enough to outrace the semi's that just about blew our ***** of the road when they passed by.
