Fire in trailer

Host Slide in Campers

After looking for a used bunk house fifth wheel for several months, we found one at Whitehorse RV in New Jersey which is about six hours drive (each way) from where we live. :) I called and talked to a salesman, Scott, at Whitehorse RV to determine if the trailer was worth my time and the drive. Scott assured me the trailer was in excellent condition – he even went out and took more pictures of it and sent them to me. He stated that he and his company did not sell trailers which were not in good condition. Scott even said that if he did not think that that the trailer was worth buying he would not advise me to make such a long drive just to look at it. I told him that we would make time to come see it as soon as possible. He told me to call the day before I drive up to verify the trailer was still available and that he would put a 24 hour courtesy hold on it because he did not want me to drive that far to find out the trailer was already sold. He said he had seen it happen before and did not want me to be in that situation. Unfortunately I took him at his word. I spoke to Scott on Thursday and he informed me that the trailer was available. I reminded him of our earlier conversation and told him that we would arrive around 4PM. He again stated that he would put a 24 hour hold on the camper to ensure that is was available when I got there Friday afternoon. I also made sure that he had my cell phone number in case there was any reason that he needed to contact me. My wife and I both took the day off work on Friday to drive to NJ. I called around 4:00 to tell Scott that we were running a little late but would be there about 4:30 to see the trailer before they closed at 5:00. He informed me that the trailer was sold earlier that morning. I asked why he did not put the 24 hold on it like he offered to do and why he did not call me to tell me that it had sold. At first he denied talking to me the day before until I reminded him of our specific conversation. :-{} Finally he admitted that he recalled our conversation that took place the previous day and simply replied “I didn’t sell it, someone else did”.

We were out 12 hours of drive time, wear and tear on my vehicle not to mention gas money, lots of money in tolls, a day of work for both my wife and myself, and one night in a hotel. It is extremely frustrating to take 2 days to go see a trailer and have it gone before you get there in spite of someone's word you would get first shot at it. I would discourage anyone from ever shopping at Whitehorse RV. If this is how they treat a potential customer I can only imagine how unprofessional and untrustworthy they are after they have your money.

That is really bad lame, sadly that is the way most people do bussiness today.

I have been to that dealer many times just looking around, it is about 5 miles from my in-laws in May's Landing.

Scott needs a visit from some of New Jersey's best, whose first and last names begin and end in vowels. What a scumbag.
