Joe, I will not be attending May Madness, nor will I be in the market for a new RAM truck.
Could you pass these reasons on. I know I am just one person but I do know others have brought these issues up on the trailer forum as issues as will.
1. The new Ram trucks with the 6.7L Cummins, 3500 SRW truck has a GVWR of 14,000. This will require me to obtain a different driver licenses; Class A non-CDL, State Of Illinois classification. This is do to the new weights of the truck and my 5th wheel weight, this would put me over 26,001 LBS when towing. My current licenses is good up to 26,000 LBS.
2. The bed of the new trucks are to high now when pulling a 5er; there is not enough clearance between the top of the rail on the bed and the underneath of the 5er at the kingpin joint. As you know pulling a 5er nose high is not good for the rear axle and tires this puts too much weight on them. There is a lot of concern on the trailer forums and some users have had to modify the trailer to raise the camper up to provide the necessary clearance.
3. I am not sure that I want to pull a heavy camper with 3:42 differential gears in the SRW version. I would prefer that Ram offers 3:73 and 4:10 gear set also as an attachment. I pull in all types of terrain from flat land to mountain interstates and rolling hills, we do travel the entire US.
Thank you
Jim
