Here I am

Who has a 05 or 06 built transmission

Would this make a good set of twins??

how accurate is smarty's abs calibration?

Just wondering who out there has a modified transmission in an 05 or 06, and was wondering how it shifted with a new converter? And if the shifts are stacked up on light to medium throttle. I guess that because of the computer controlled TV (throttle valve) it will stack the shifts on an 05 -06. What that means is under medium throttle it shifts from 1st then jumps to 3rd and such. Just wondering if anyone is seeing this with theirs?

Thanks again,

Goerend convertor and billet input plus other billet stuff plus Kolene steels Blue clutches, kevlar bands. My trans guy did his magic on my vb. Running 165psi at wot. Shifts firm. Shifts in order. Never heard about 1st to 3rd... Wouldn't be too happy with that. So far, best mod to my truck by far. Get that power to the ground with greater efficiency...

I have the BD converter and VB. Mine does this under light throttle, can't seem to find a gear. If you depress the throttle a little harder it shifts great, but then your racing away from every light. If somone has a fix or knows what causes this I would love to know. I hate having to drive around what the trans is doing. It's hard to justify to the wife spending all the money and not have it drive right.

Trisum, that is what I have been hearing is happening with some of the modified trannys. I am courious as to what is causing this, have you called BD and asked them about the problem.

I did, of course it wasn't any of their products that would cause this to happen. He told me it sounded like one of the "valves" might be sticking. I talked to the guy that did the trans, he said he checked them all before it went back together and everything worked fine. He has heard of this happening on the newer transmissions, but he wasn't sure what to do to fix it.

Soooo... ..... If anybody does know how to fix this I would greatly appreciate any information you might have.

Thanks,

David

I'm running a Suncoast transmission. It will do "stacked shifts" if accelerating under very light throttle. Driving normally though, or under heavy throttle, it shifts great!

My Suncoast doesn't skip shifts, but will go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd pretty quick under really light throttle. Other than that , great transmission. its a trade off I am willing to take for great shifts every other time i need it too.

AMassaro - All that line pressure is great for lock up and clutch apply, but I wonder for how long until you start producing cross leaks and having transmission problems.

My 06 Goering converter and VB installed at 8000 will shift a little eratic at real light throttle between 2-3 we installed different springs which helped but its not perfect. But the trans is sooooo much better than stock I can live with it.

What is the concern? 165psi isn't that high. I know of tranmissions running higher than that with zero issues.

I should re-phrase, it acts more like what Diesel Nut described.

I HAVE A FULL GOEREND BROS. AND UNDER LIGHT ACCEL. IT SHIFTS ERATIC. THE ONLY WAY IT SHIFTS PERFECT IS TO PUSH THE ACCEL. A LITTLE HARDER AFTER EVERY GEAR. DAVE SAID THAT HE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SOME OF THE 2005 ctd, AND IF IT ACTED UP LET HIM KNOW. HE SAID SOMTHING ABOUT THE DEALER REFLASHING IT? NOT SURE WHAT THAT WILL DO SINCE I USE A PROGRAMMER. AS FAR AS THE transmission I HAVE PUT 2,000mi. IN 2 MONTHS AND TWO REAR TIRES TODAY. VERY STRONG transmission. I WAS GOING TO GIVE DAVE A CALL TOMMORROW AND FIND OUT WHAT THE FIX IS.

I would be very interested to hear. I've been driving my truck more lately and it is getting on my nerves. I will be calling around myself to see if anyone has a fix. Will post what I come up with.

I have the same problem with my Goerends transmission. Not an issue though. I would much rather have it shift FIRM 1-2 under light throttle then be breaking parts at WOT when I am blowin smoke up that superdude's or duracrap's skirt.

Firm is not really the issue I'm having. Mine is the "hunting" for a gear problem. Mine feels like it does the 1-3-2-3-2 shuffle.

I'm sure if the issue is brought up enough, one of these transmission gurus will figure it out and offer a fix.

When my transmission was stock it hunted for gears BAD. I live on over a mile of dirtroads (low mph, light throttle) and you would have to lock it in gear to stop it. My transmission shifts kind of hard going into second but the gear hunting is completely over. It's a huge improvement over stock.

I have brought this up before on my stock truck. The dealer replaced a accelerator position switch (?) on top of the transmission a while back and it did seem to help for a while.

Now it seems to be fine one day then do the 1-3-2-3 watoosie the next.

Someone said on here that they change the transmission fluid when they change their oil and that keeps it in check, seems kinda expensive to me , also a tech at my dealer said that it is probably the electronic control of the computer trying to interface with the hydraulic control of the transmission.

If that is so I wonder if or how a programmer like Superchips Flashpac would or could help the problem? Just a thought.
