Edward, the purpose of the TC saver is not to prevent wear to the TC. There are several situations while towing that the advantage of unlocking the TC becomes evident. Like cresting a big hill with a heavy load, and the last couple of hundred yards, you don't want to slow up to catch the next lower gear, so with the TC saver, and the DTT converter, you can unlock the TC, raise the RPM's 200-300, and finish off the hill, let off the throttle and back to lockup you go. This is a true benefit while towing heavy.

As to why 3 out of 4 use billet covers, maybe they need them, maybe they don't. I know that the DTT converters I install do not, as they don't balloon, or fail, period. That sales pitch , is just that, a sales pitch.
I have always wondered how a automatic is suppose to work when being used to pull a load, the only reason I need a now need a truck. Sir what gear was the truck that you speaking of. Third or overdrive? What kind of rpms was the engine at before you unlock? A friend of mine has a truck that has a DDT transmission and it was getting running hot in the summer pulling a small trailer, turns out a convertor not locking up. The transmission was repaired, but my question is how long can you run unlocked and not have problems? I reccomened the transmission to him in the first place. What rpms do you reccomend droping out of lockup?

Sir do you get a better warranty by buying a crate transmission or just installing a build up. Is the 300 rpm change about what a 6 speed would have if you just down shifted? Thanks Jim

This thread started before the transmission post guidelines came into effect. It has some good information it, and did not get really out of hand. Therefore it should not be deleted.

To continue it is against current guidelines. I think if I just lock it the infor will stay and we won't get in trouble. If I make anyone real mad, please PM me.
