Ok G. Boardman, several things here.
One; dumb questions are what we all ask, because none of us are Transmission Experts. The person who is afraid to ask a dumb question will miss critical info because he isn't up to speed with the basic questions.
Two; NOBODY uses lockup to get the truck moving. EVERY automatic ever made uses a fluid coupling to get the truck moving.
Three; ATS doesn't need a billet cover--I suppose Clint could use a stamped P. O. S. like the stock cover, like the other trans builders do. But that billet cover will last for Hundreds of Thousands of miles without deflecting, warping and ruining your day like the stock one can if you run bombed or tow hard.
Four; I post about ATS for several reasons. I have a building/construction background, with a little engineering school thrown in, and I was hugely impressed with Clint's approach to building the ATS Transmissions. Back when I was looking for a Performance Trans, I called and e-mailed them all and was most impressed with ATS. The fact that so many guys here have discovered just how good they are, is I believe, the reason for the rave reviews for ATS.
