My story

I am on my third lift pump in 30,000 miles. First one with no mods second one with injectors. The third one is working fine so far with injectors and VA box.

Getting replaced now

Same as JMarkos. Truck is at the stealer right now. We'll see how long it takes them to replace it. Truck sat at the dealer for three days (went in with no appt. ) after I dropped it off when they finally (after a fight) agreed to replace it as it was 'marginal' (no it wasn't, 6-7 psi at idle, right down to 0 psi as soon as I got on it). Whatever. Was told they'd order the part and would call when it was in, that it should take a day or two to get the part in. On the 5th business day I called to find out what the deal was, lo and behold the part was in but another week until they could fit me in to do the work.

I answered 'failed with fueling box only' but was shocked to see how big a lead 'failed with no bomb/enhancements' has on the other categories. Hope this answers the question someone had (can't remember who) about whether the fueling boxes were CAUSING the problem or hastening the demise of the LP's.

JTisdale- You're getting hosed.

fyi- 33,000 miles but just bought Briar's gauge a couple of weeks ago and confirmed my suspicion of failure, see my other post. Don't know how long it had been dead prior to my diagnosing it.

what gives??

My dealer replaced mine with one that came from STAR also. While they had several in stock at the dealership, they werent allowed to use one of these under the warranty's provisions-according to STAR. Those pumps in stock were for NON-warranty customers only. Figure that one out.

I can't.....

Except that the ones that are sitting in stock they can charge customers $300. 00+ (plus the labor, if they install it) for it and they want to be sure they have them in stock should someone who's gonna be 'paying' for it needs one vs. someone who's having it done for 'free' (warranty).

Either way, I'd be jumping up and down, screaming my head off. That's B. S.

I was wondering today if I was actually paying for this work (as opposed to warranty work) to be done would my part have been in and work been done faster?

Mine failed at 30k miles - BEFORE I added either the Comp Box or the DDII injectors. I have gone nearly another 30K miles since the bombs, and although my current lift pump is lame, it's not bad enough for Dodge to replace it.

Per Briar Hoppers wonderful gauge kit, lift pump #2 runs:

15psi - idle

12psi - normal driving

5 psi - WOT

I Guess I was lucky

I guess that I am an exception then. I got Briar Hopper's gauge on Friday last week used it on Saturday. Pressure 8 @ idle and 3 @ WOT. Called the dealer on Monday morning got an appointment on Tuesday first thing. Told them I had 8 PSI @ idle on the pressure gauge. Had the truck back @ 10:30 AM with a new pump. The new John Elway Dodge On Arapahoe, the old one was not as good. This was my first visit to them.

The guy did try to catch me off guard, he says "Nice truck... have you chipped it?" I say "Yes". He says " Yeah they run great with those power chips". I say "Oh you mean a performance chip... I thought you were talking about the paint... No of course I haven't done that, not until my extended warranty runs out!"

Mostly Stock truck with 60K miles on 1st pump. Nobody will ever know how long it was marginal though ...

I have the extended warranty. I would love to see them try that with me (they didn't, had a new one installed in 30 minutes). They would have to rent me a car until the repairs were made. Pay me now or pay me later :D

On lift pump #4

Original pump lasted approx. 50K.

#2 replaced under warranty lasted 28K

#3 replaced under warranty lasted 26K

#4 replaced at my expense... . 8K and counting til certain failure in the not-so-distant future.

Got my truck back tonight no problems??? That makes 1 trip to the dealer with no hassels??? I don't understand.

Still didn't fix my high EGT problem:confused:

Fixed

Got mine back from the dealer tonight and it's fixed. Oh yeah, verified it when I got home. First failure at some point before 33,000 mi. We'll see how long it lasts!

Wastegate disabled?

JMarkos- Do you have your wastegate disabled? With some of your goodies you may need to disable the wastegate to fix your high EGT problem, just a thought... ... .

zman

Yea it's disabled, I am thinking maybe I have a cracked exhaust manifold- probably just grasping for straws now but it's got to be in there somewhere.
