My early 91 has 263K; the truck I traded it for passed 250K about three months ago. I've replaced the turbo (no pyrometer, hot shutdowns), head gasket (common for 89-90s), starter, alternator, power steering and vacuum pump assembly, and had the rear end bearings replaced and new carrier put in. Gears were still good. It was a hot shot for 200K, pulling a 40' G-N hauling tractors all over. It needs injectors, and the head has cracks between every injecotr hole and intake valve seat. I unwittingly ran it 10K with the head gasket blown- found out what it was by reading about the noise in N14 engines- thought it was just something minor and annoying. With one injector stuck open (ok, it pops at something like 500psi- may as well be stuck open), and the others about 400 psi low, it still gets 18-19 mpg locally; 20 hwy. Rides better than Mom's 92 D350 with 30K less. I almost bought a 97 a few years ago with 280K, but the bank said it had too many miles and it wouldnt last the life of the 4 year loan I wanted. They still refused me when I offered to get it inspected at a shop to see what kind of shape it was in.

I WOULD SAY YOU SHOULD ASK HOW MANY HAVE UNDER 250K ? THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS TO OWN A CUMMINS AND AT THIS AGE OF A TRUCK THIS MILAGE IS ABOUT THE NORM. I HAD ONE JUST LIKE YOURS BUT A 93 MY TRANS WORKED GREAT EXCEPT ONE TIME MY TPS SLIPPED AND IT SHIFTED LATE UP AND EARLY DOWN I RE-ADJUSTED IT AND IT WAS GOOD AS NEW . I DID NOT HAVE TO ADD OIL TO THE MOTOR AND THE OIL STAYED CLEAR THE WHOLE TIME . IT TOOK ALMOST 4K BE FOR IT STARTED TO DARKING AND WHEN I CHANGED IT AT 5K IT MIGHT OF BEEN DOWN A QUART . THE transmission WAS NOT REBUILT AN I SEEN SOME ONE THAT HAD 375K ON THEIRS AND IT ALSO WAS UNTOUCHED I GUESS THESE TRANNYS COULD HAVE LIFE WITH INTELLIGENT DRIVING HABBITS

402k miles

Lots of miles and good value through out. I did a post last year titled Problems past 100k miles. Check the archives. Got real good response from the guys. That might be of interest as well.

500,000 Rebuilt getrag at 250,000 headgasket at 150,000 new inj pump at 100,000. uses no oil runs good has blowby now but i beet it to death at every corner all its life. I think I even put a rear seal in it once. see my sig. at bottom

I had a 92'250 I sold a few years back. Had 300k on it then. 1st 250k road miles after that lot of towing up to 300k when I sold it. Saw it around town pulling a huge trailer for a contractor. Hear he blew the Getrag and fixed it , still see it once in a while. Was a great truck. Now drive a 95' 2500 SLT ext. cab. Needed the cab space for family.

Bought my 93 D-250 in May 96. Had 62,000 on it . It now has 265,000 on it. Talked to onginal owner, he had a electrical problem with it going into overdrive while on vacation. Said it took the dealership about 15 minutes to solve. Only problem he ever had with it. Of the 200,000 plus I have put on it, I have replaced the front rotors, lift pump, lots of dash lights (frequently), and KEPT IT WELL SERVICED. In other words syn. oil filters(Amsoil or Mobil 1), syn. oil (Amsoil), lubed regularly, transmission serviced regularly. The auto trans is still good and tight, even though I have turned up the pump a bit. I drive to work 110 miles every day. Relax, you bought the best. Remember when you hear a Ford man bragging about the high mileage on his PowerStroke, he is excited that it just tuned over 100,000!

My 91. 5 is at 345 km problem free ,transmission is fine, but will be replace by a DTT soon, it can't handle the power i'm producing, don't woory that thing is good forever if it is well maintained.

My 1992 W250 has 278,000+ showing w/ the majority of those miles on 35" tires and no Odometer Recal. It seems to be 8%-10% off based on Highway Milemakers.

Well I "only" have 132 K on mine..... I enjoyed reading all about what I can expect...

Looks like neither the truck's nor my body will outlast the engine!!!!:-laf :-laf

372,000 in it now, not a 1st gen. but runs real good. Just replaced all steel transmission cooling lines with rubber, the steel ones had holes in them. Had head off once for coolant leak, replace rear differential once, bearing slipped and never would stay in place. I still get 18-20 mpg out on the road, 14-16 around town. Truck has been to Alaska 12 times so it has rattled down the road some!!

I don't qualify to respond yet, just turned 249,009. I use it as a service truck working on country grain elevators in the midwest, so it is seeing mostly highway miles.

I really like 1)how straight and stable it steers/drives and 2)how much easier it is to reach over the bedsides to pickup tools and parts that I need. The third attribute that I like is how easy it is to service and repair(unless I need to work in the fusebox area).

The fourth and most enjoyable attribute is how easy and economical it is to turn the power up to the level you like.

The only disappointment for me has been 2 major attempts to seal off the water leak it has that wets down the drivers carpet. It still leaks occasionally. I'm just trying to minimize the damage by making a drain hole in the floorboard plug and using 90wt on the rusted area of the floorboard(don't try this unless you like the smell of 90wt when you turn the heater on). I use plastic over the 90wt to try to keep the carpet from getting oil soaked.

Mine pulls a flatbed or stock trailer on weekends and occasionally on jobs.

I almost forgot to mention that 19-23mpg is very appealing to me also.
