no way , no how ...

unless its a used one .

the track record with DC fixing problems ... wait , no problems , everything is normal ... like 6 years to fix the brake pull and lack of brakes issue , the steering wander is still a problem 8 years later , won't even go into the auto trans .

i have no desire to be the guinea pig for DC on this one .

would any of you guys clamouring for the NEW engine buy a duramax the first year ???

whoever it was that said they were waiting for the HO with an auto , don't hold your breath on that one my friend .

Unless a money bag falls outta some tree or the sky I wont be gettin me one.

Really I like the truck, but want others to get their toes wet first before I commit to it. My little lady (well not so little right now, I bombed her and she is due in May) is wanting a new ride. A van might be better suited though. We will have four kids come May.

Holy cow. Im still shakin my head tryin to figure out how the heck I went and had four kids. My retirment is gonna be toast from all the "Daddy, Im broke and need some money" calls.

Back to the trucks. A real crew cab to pile everyone into is what we will need/want.

Don~

Don' t flog me, but...

I want a 1500 SB 2WD with the Hemi in it. Have to drill the front of the block to get the distributor in the right place. No, my '99 ain't for sale!:D

Guess I will hang onto my 01 for a few more years. When it's paid for wifey said it is her turn to buy. I have had two since we married, she is still driving her camry.

I'm gettin' me one!

I'll order one as soon as I can! With 300+ HP and 550 ft/lbs, I won't need to do any bombing for a while. IMHO, the looks are great, I'm thinking a long bed "club" cab is in my future. Plus, the "quieter" CTD is only 8-10d different - it's like a good audio system, quality of the sound is more important than quantity!

The only question I have is whether my Rickson wheels will bolt up to the new truck

Unfortunally its gonna be a race between the ford and dodge for me.

Ford has some options that i kinda need, like a crewcab, and the pedals raise up and down. (little lady is only 5'2, she has to sit on pellows to see over the hood):D and the locking hubs. gotta stay old school on your hubs.

Dodge is porbably gonna drag out bring out their Crewcab. Love my 99, but if she cant drive it, I cant get it:{

With a little luck there will be a 0? crewcab dodge with a HO and a slush box. (she cant drive stick either:rolleyes: )

just gonna have to wait and see

Chris

I don't think so. With the lack of warranty support that I have had with the 2001, I'm not standing in line for more abuse. I'll deal with what I have for now.

I read the auto show report on the home page. It looks as if the 4X4 is still stuck with the same old steering. But, with a quicker ratio, you probably won't notice the slop as much. I don't recall reading if they're still running the same junk track bar or not.

Any way, count me in as an unhappy customer who can hold a grudge.

Not me!

I like the truck I have just fine, and have no desire to spend big bucks to get a newer one. And especially not one in the first year of production. I'll probably have this truck for years to come!

I'm so dissapointed mainly with the reduced space under the hood. Secondly, I have to agree that the dash looks like it belongs in a mini van.

I was hoping that I would be financially ready to order an 02 if I didn't care for the new 03's. Evidently, that's not going to happen.

I'll just have to look for a good used 2nd gen truck when the time comes!!!:(

I know they say... Never say Never... . BUT, I will NEVER buy another brand new vehicle from the stealer. After my last experience with my 95. . I'll wait and let someone else take the 20-30% off the lot depriciation hit and buy a USED '03 or newer!

First I have to fiish BOMBing my 95, then drop a BOMBed CTD in her 97!..... THEN... ... .

Not me, I learned long ago to wait till the third year of production before buying a new model. I've heard the dash assemblies are Toyota style (aka GM ) modular plastic panel snap-together-rattle traps, not like the ones we have now. I'll wait and see and if I get the chance I'll scramble and order my 2002 3500 ASAP. I dont like the IFS either on the 4wd's. Just my 2c's, hopefully I'm wrong.

IFS is on the 1500's only. 2500 and 3500's stay solid axle.

Glad to hear that!! Wonder if they'll fix the trac bar problem and put zerks back on? I've already had a new front end put on under warranty.

'02 vs. '03

I got an '02 1500 Quad Cab for the mrs. - much more refined and car-like than the previous half tons. I imagine the '03 3/4s will be the same. The sight lines and fields of vision are not as good either. As far a room under the hood goes, with the 287 V8 there's about 2 feet between the front of the engine and the front bumper. Lots of room in the back seat too.

Not Me!

Just looked at a 1500 that stickered for $36k. That's more than I paied for a 2001 Diesel! besides that, The interior looked way cheap. The center consol is smaller too. Not to mention the new gill looks totaly lame.

I'm with Mopar-Muscle!

I went and drove the 1500s at the Meet the Mayor event here in Scottsdale last Sept. Nice trucks, but the back two doors ARE TOO DAMN SMALL!

I want/need a true Crew Cab with a full 8 foot bed. What was DC thinking? How many years did we clamor for a true four door? Screwed yet again by Mr. Dodge. Bu-bye...

Figure Ford is next in line to up the anty, and I feel it is going to be big up if you've seen the last Detroit show truck! Didn't care for the Tonka reference, but man, that thing looked good!

'03 or not '03

You know to each his own but I don't care for the new body style and after seeing the pictures that Steve took of the engine bay, why do they design vehicles this way? The second generation truck is a masculine looking, no gingerbread vehicle. The interior in my '01(Agate leather) is clean looking and not too frilly. Is my truck engine too noisy?... . maybe but I sure get a kick at a stop light pulling up next to a car with some gal glued to her cell phone and her window down:D I'll keep my '01 rattler for now thank you! P. S. I do want one of those engine brand fender badges

03?

Remember, those of you who are saying you'll wait awhile before taking the plunge: Past the first year production run and you'll be stuck with the EGR version. If the info on this site and elsewhere is accurate regarding that option, I'll keep my '99 forever. :)
