Hey thanks guys for all the info! #ad
Wowsy: Your 'steelhorse' bars - Do they bolt to the frame or what makes them so solid? Sure look good.

Mike Clay: How are yours mounted? Are they solid? Love your Rocker panel covers. Are they from Northwest Customs also?

Thanks to all,

Richard

Yet another one,I have Warn 4X bars. They are full length, which I like for reaching things in the bed. Easy to install and keep clean. Best thing about them is you need only pull two pins and they slip off, great for off roading.

I like the looks of BigBadDodge's Grizzly double bent nerf bars. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to order some? BBD seems to like his, anyone else with Grizzly's have any comments pro or con?

Richard, yes they are mounted on the frame and are very solid. The nerf steps are from Rhino and the rocker panels are from NW Custom.

RedRam1,
I ordered mine through Advanced auto when I was in NC, but you should be able to get them through any car parts store I think Auto Zone can order them for you as
well. Here is a link to there web page coming soon, http://www.grizzlyproducts.com/

They're not nerf bars, but the Kodiak Sidewinder electric steps automatically swing up out of the way when the door is closed. They come in alum. or black.

Davison, The SteelHorse bars mount directly to the body support mounts like some of the others, but the brackets are made heavier and they use flat bar to connect the bottom of the brackets to the inner body, taking the stress off the body mounts. Any one could use this type of bracing to strengthen the other brands.

If I get my hands on a d-camera, I'll post some pics of the brackets and brace work.

Thanks BigBadDodge, I'll check with Autozone and Advanced today after work. Hopefully I can get 'em in stainless, my truck is a Flame Red non-sport, I believe with my chrome bumpers & Grill that chrome/stainless would look better. Did you like how the Grizzlies mounted?

Jetson -

How is the 'durability' and reliability of your Sidewinder's?

I've seen those and are really practical, moving out of the way and all. No clearance problems eh?

Davison, I haven't had any problem with them, but they have only been on the truck 6 months. The step plate tucks up against the bottom of the cab, so you can still see it when closed. I didn't put any for the rear doors. The steps are easier for my wife than most nerf bars, because they swing down a little lower and they have a wide step that is parallel to the cab. I've been thinking of putting a switch on them though. Currently, the only way to stop them from swinging down is to unplug the fuse next to the battery. The company that makes them also makes the drive units used to open/close slideouts on a lot of RV's(Kwikee Products).
