What Tires/Wheels to Buy???

One of my pet peeves, wiper blades. Human technology can put men on the moon and send craft to Mars but we can't develop a decent windshield wiper blade for the winter months. I guess there is not enough prestige and money in it.

The Canadian Tire ones will not fit the new generation Dodges without some alteration, so there off the list. Have two sets of the Wal Mart winter blades, they worked fine as long as the membrane remained intact, but the snow and ice wrecked havock on the rubber membrane which results in them freezing up like summer ones. So I switched over to Wally's summer blades, despite the snow and ice they work better overall than the winter enclosed type. However they have been on just over a month now and the tips are separating from the stainles stiffner rods and need to be replaced. The ice and snow sure gets the best of them, in short order. The expensive ones do not seem to last or work any better than the cheap ones. So I stick with cheap

I always carry at least one spare set behind the seat and just replace them as needed.

I just use Anco and replace them every couple years when the rubber starts tearing off.

I used to use Anco. ALWAYS. Never again though. I was driving thru Dallas during heavy rain. Visibility was so poor, I was going 30 in the Freeway because the semi's were churning up so much water. Well, my Anco Advantage something or other blades were chattering when it was only a mist, and when I had them on high, one of them FELL OFF! WTFO!!

I'm going down the freeway, visibility sucks, and the blade fell off. Nice. I replaced with Bosch. Ever wonder why a human's butt crack is vertical instead of horizontal? You know that sound you make with your lips with your index finger? Well, it's so your butt doesn't make that noise when you go down a slide. That's why. That's what the Bosch blades did after about a friggin' weak. So, I got some cheapoes from NAPA, and they work very well. Replace with refills every 6 months, and good-to-go.

Let me just add that its not ALL about the wiper. If you use a GOOD ammonia free high quality glass cleaner with the coditioners and polymers to keep the glass nice and slick and stop water spots from occuring. THEN any old cheap anco blade will probobly satisfy you allot better. I use SPRAYWAY in a blue and white can. There are others out there but sprayway is the same quality for a little cheaper. They just started selling it at sam's club in four packs. If you use it often enough it puts some sort of coating on the glass and the water rolls off like rain-x effect so you can just leave wipers off at highway speeds.

I have used Bosch Micro Excel and a couple of other brands (can't remember which). My problem is that they all leave a streak right in my vision on the driver's side. The passenger's side seems to be clearer. Any one else have this problem?

I just put on a pair on the new Bosch Icon wipers, seem great so far, very unique design, the spoiler on them makes then them really hug the windshield when you are on the highway, they seem good around town as well. I got them at Autozone, they were about $46 a set, hopefully they will last.

well i finally for fed up with the stock wiper blades not cleaning very well and making noise, so i got some rain-x wiper blades when they were on sale. . stock is 24" and i tried some 26" ones... the seem to work very well [better than stock ones anyways]...

Just picked up some of the new fangled 24" Bosch ICON's today at $22 a pop! OUCH! I'll try just about anything once! :)

Gonna put them on just as soon as the wintery weather is gone around here. Don't want ice buildup to go tearing up my $50 set of blades...

bosch "ICON"

kinda pricey though, but well worth it. .

I think I saw these got a "Pace" award from Automotive News. They're the ones without the metal web for tension, right? They look like a good idea (similar to the Reflex blades), but I'm soured on expensive Bosch wipers for awhile. Just bought a pair of el-cheapo Trico's for my wife's car to replace the POS Bosch Micro Edge Excel junk.

Same here Ryan. . couple weeks ago I pulled the Bosch's off for trico's on the wifes PT cruiser and my truck. The worked good the first storm and now are so-so but better than what was on there.

yeah i know what you mean. . ive always used bosch micro edge and always thought they didnt last worth a damn. . but these are night and day. IMO they are worth it!! i deliver all new gm's and chryslers for a living and have noticed that more and more gm cars and suv's are coming with this style of blade.

Anyone try the new Trico Innovision?

Sounds good.

I have a post somewhere back about the Trico Innovision. I have had them for about 3 months now. I love them. So far still as quiet as when new and very good at all wiper conditions. At $12. 99 each they are still cheap enough for me. Just don't know how long they will last, only time will tell.

Just put on a set of bosch icons about a month ago. The best wiper I've ever used! no streaks or chattering, can't even hear them. Time will tell if they last for any length of time.

I just ordered 3 sets of Trico Innovations - should have them next week. They have a 1 year warranty through Checker Auto, so I guess they can be warrantied around 360 days each year. .

Does anybody else here get the same impression I do?

It seems that all of us think our 2-year-old wiper blades stink. Then we are just thrilled with the performance of whichever new one we put on.

What a surprise.

I am guessing, from the comments here, that the best thing you can do to be happy with your wiper blades is to change them. I've always wondered if one brand was really better than another, and maybe someday Consumer Reports will test them and we'll have a scientific answer. Until then, I'll just keep buying whatever I can find that fits and is cheap. It looks like that will work as long as I do it often enough.

Loren, I don't get that impression. In fact:

I have tried others, and I have found one that finally works well on my truck. Yes, you have to replace any wiper sooner than every two years, but some are definitely better than others
